It is very important to purchase a high-quality pair of knee pads. My main concern was that the knee pads might come off or peel off but they are greatly adequate. The straps are tight, but they must be if they are to stay on. In the 12 hours I wore them, they left no marks on my legs. They did slip down somewhat but never to the point where they were no longer protective. wore them over my leggings, so that could be what caused them to stick to me. As low as my knees slid when they were bent 90 degrees, they went to the top of my knees. Once the cold weather comes, I plan to wear them under my pants. The two of them remained in place as I pedaled my bike for 10 miles, getting off and on as needed. I have never had knee pads work as well as these ones have, as all the others slipped down all the time to the point where my knees were not My recommendation is to try it.
As a first line of protection for my knees, I used these sleeves while gardening and renovating my house. I like how well the compression and padding work together. Having said that, there is one down side. Two layers of stretch fabric sandwich dozens of small foam triangles to create padding.
