With the long sleeve version, you can protect your elbows. I gave that to my son as a gift. This is not true of the short sleeve. There is no difference in the shirt outside of the description, so it must be just one.

It is well-fitted to fit under any team jersey and provides excellent protection for the chest, ribs, shoulders, and lower back as the kid dives, tackles, and blocks whatever hard shots hit it. As you may have noticed, this goalie is my daughter, a petite but fierce fighter who now depends on this upper body armor to provide her with the best protection possible. My only wish is to find a pair of padded goalie shorts for girls that fit well too.

In order to purchase It was too small for a skinny 12 year old (I have an XL). I didn't anticipate the padding to be as thick as it was. Despite all the promises it made, it did not seem like it could protect anything.

In hindsight, I should have ordered a medium for my son who weighs 70 lbs. However, I was nervous about him not liking it too tight or outgrowing it too quickly. The large is roomy but nevertheless After getting hit by a couple of pitches, he was afraid to go back into His knee feels much better now that he has added the padding and he can resume playing.
