For someone who wants to learn to play catcher, this is a great set. The overarching protection is good. We had to get a smaller chest guard separately because the large one ran a little long. This set is okay overall, but I'm not overly impressed. This is a separate product from the last one. ).
There has been a lot of testing put on this protector. As are many of the kids on his baseball team, my 11-year-old son has a small frame. Quite a few of them asked to use his catchers equipment because it fitted better for them. Even after a lot of baseball games, this protector still looks like new, except that it has no damage. It has not stretched, ripped, scuffed or been damaged in any way. Our investment has been a great one and we are very pleased.
It just came in today, so I will give it a 5 star rating, as we haven't had a chance to use It is not unusual for my daughter to weigh only 60 pounds when she is 9 years old. This is the first chest protector that fits her, with sufficient padding to catch in fastpitch. Her legs are long and her torso is short, so this is the first chest protector I've found to fit her. Since the tool fits correctly, I have no doubt that it will function properly.
Despite being tall and thin, our 9-year-old is average in height. The padding is good for our 9-year-old boy who is 9 years old.
