In addition to running socks, I also like compression socks. During a 5K run on the 4th of July, I used these. As far as my legs were concerned, I had no issues during the run and felt pretty good afterward. I had some slight muscle aches the next day. I found these compression socks to work fairly well to prevent muscle aches and swelling, and it had a minimal effect on muscle soreness in my calf muscles. I found them to be very effective in wicking moisture. These compression socks aren't as tight around the calf as some of the top-name brand compression socks that I have tried previously. The size 7 in my wardrobe fits me perfectly. There is a size 8 shoe on each foot, and they weigh about 130 pounds. A pair of medium socks was purchased for me. However, the sock sits above the knee despite the foot fitting well. My knee cap was just below the sleeve, so I had to roll it down a little. As a whole, I found them to be quite good. Despite the tight fit and tallness of these running shoes, they kept my feet and calves fairly comfortable for my 5k run, but not quite as great as top quality name brands.
