These gloves were incredibly popular among my daughter's friends. She claimed that they were very comfortable and that they helped her hit less painfully. The issue was with the longevity of the product. In March, I bought these. They were completely torn up by early June after a total of about 30 hours of regular batting practice. Sure, my kid is a big ball player, but three months? Come on. Fortunately, they aren't prohibitively expensive, so replacing them isn't a major undertaking. However, I was under the impression that Franklin was a high-end product. No, I don't think so.
I purchased these for my son at the start of baseball season, and they lasted the entire school year and summer. Over the course of the summer, my son played in around 50 games and wore the same batting gloves each time. When thrown in the bottom of a baseball bag, the glove can stiffen up a little, but what glove doesn't? When these finally wear out, I'll buy a new pair.
I've used Franklin batting gloves in the past, as well as Nike and Under Armour. They're usually of good quality. I've had a few pairs of shoes last me years in the past. I bought these to go with a new hat, pants, bat, and socks for recreational softball, which I'm getting back into after a long hiatus. Only two games into the season, and the stitching around the 'Shok-' has already begun. Already, the Sorb' padding has come undone in four places. Two recreational softball games, I repeat. I guess I now understand why they were on sale. These gloves aren't going to last even half a season if you only play one night a week.
When it comes to shok, sorb. I can't compare this to other batting gloves because it's my first pair. The pair I got was not the ones in the picture that I thought I was getting, which were mostly white and black. They are, however, still the shok- I was looking for something sorb and the color scheme was perfect. I've worn them in four softball games now and have found them to be very comfortable. When it comes to shok, So far, I've only used a Miken bat with them (which doesn't vibrate as much as other bats), but I still don't feel as much vibration as I did before they were used. Overall, I like the look and they work as expected, despite the fact that the design was not exact to the picture. They come highly recommended from me.
" After the second at-bat, the palm's seam ripped. bat. br>br>The pair cost $20, which is a bargain in comparison to other brands. br>br>The palm cushion is comfortable, but the leather is thin. br>br>I've also noticed that the surface is a little slick at times. When you use pine tar, it actually makes things worse. br>br>Previously, the same model cost $14 per pair and was more durable than this one. br>br>Customer Service: BRAVO to the customer service team for quickly sending me a replacement pair at no cost. br>br>When the time comes, I'm not sure I'll buy them again. br>br>As time passes, it appears that product quality is deteriorating in general. Perhaps it's a ploy to persuade me to buy the more expensive models, but I'm not convinced the $50/pair are significantly superior.
In less than a week, the stitching on the palm began to come undone. My son will keep them as a backup glove now that the unraveling has slowed.
The stitching on the inside of the pointer finger is placed haphazardly right where the fingernail meets the finger - With repeated use, this creates a large rub/agitation point. I attempted to remove the stitching but was unsuccessful. Fixing this issue would almost certainly be more expensive, but the end result would be a fantastic glove.
10/2016: The gloves are well-padded and comfortable to wear, but the palms were poorly stitched when they arrived. br>br>Update for 2/2019: Despite the poor stitching, the gloves have held up well and I'm still using them for softball three times a year. I'm going to go out and buy a new pair right now because I don't think these will last another season. Adult male, 5'10, 180 pounds - The adult size large is ideal.
