While the bag is big enough to fit all my gear, it has a frustratingly small opening to the main compartment. A zipper that has to make two 90-degree turns is also very likely to fail because it has to open and close the main compartment, and will stick as it turns every time.

In the 4th grade, my son used it for fourteen months until it suddenly broke down all the corners, and it is no longer usable. This bag had a good size, nice shoulder straps, and lasted for one year, but then suddenly throughout the year, every bottom corner of the bag began separating from the base fabric which is supposed to keep it from tearing, but the fabric was bad My expectations are that a swim bag should last longer than a year and also when I called TYR customer service they said it was out of warranty and they didn't even offer repair. I am very disappointed in their service. My opinion is that the bag should last longer than 14 months and if not, the company should be willing to repair it. This is an extremely poor quality product.
In this purchase, I was looking to replace the original TYR Alliance bag. I also ordered a Speedo bag, the old TYR Alliance and this new redesigned version of the TYR Alliance on the way to settling on this back pack. The two most important things that I look for in a backpack are that it has a small opening and one that stands up. Both of these features were included in this bag. This bag has a smaller capacity of 35L, a smaller opening, and will not stand up, as the Speedo bag did. It is apparent that the newer version of the TYR Alliance is not of the same quality as my old bag and I don't think it will last as long. There's a feature on this version that I still have not gotten used to the top opens on the back side of the bag. I also miss the two large pockets on each side As part of the redesign, these were changed. Although I get a tiny bit more room inside the main compartment in the newer 45L size, it still makes up for it a little bit. As a huge fan of the leather bag, I also love the lumbar support and laptop pad. The latter allows the bag to stand up while still carrying a laptop.
