It is a great tool for training. They still feel heavy because of the foam, but the hits (that are bound to occur when learning) are less painful because of the weight.

You can only use it as a beginner

This might be difficult for you if this is your first time using them. However, I am an advanced user and have never used them before. I always use wood or metal instead. With in 3 minutes of use, a very advanced user will be able to do so. This is what I broke. In the end, they flew apart. Not good unless you learn from it.
