It is not clear whether my daughter uses the side straps to hold the bo staff, but I do know she does. It's small enough to fit all of her sparring gear, her sais with case, and her tonfas.
The bag is written in Japanese. However, I do not think it's large enough to fit everything in the bag.

Despite being priced at $60, this bag lasted longer and offered the same durability as the one sold by my sons' Taekwondo studio. In addition to the first one, I purchased this one as well. It fits hand, foot, chest gear, helmets, and weapons just as well. It can be used for either youth or adult clothing.
Taekwondo gear is carried in and out of this bag by my little ones. Despite the fact that it has a lot of extra compartments, it is sturdy and very spacious. The waterproof compartment in the plastic pocket is one of my favorite features as I can stash water bottles without them leaking or sweating on.
I have had no problems with this bag so far. I can put all my daughter's TKD gear in it, and it's spacious with plenty of pockets. The book is a hit with her.
