It has a hard rubber bottom and a molded arch, but the entire boot is made of rubber, with only a lining insert for blister prevention. It's more of a rain boot or muck boot, so it doesn't provide the same level of support as the other Smoky Mountain boots I've purchased for my son. He's now 15, and I've been buying this brand for years because it lasts a long time, and this boot was no exception. I believe he has it in two or three different sizes, all of which appear to be brand new; He'll simply outgrow them. If you require assistance, I could recommend a good insert.
