To do her pointe ballet and tap work, my daughter does have a portable floor that she puts on top of carpet. Her feet do not slide off of it. The system is perfect for her at home as it allows her to use her dance shoes properly.

Joking aside, this is a ridiculous thing. Our daughter could practice without destroying the floors the whole point of getting it was so she could practice without damaging the floors! The workmanship is poor, and it has exposed staples on the back side. Also, the material wobbles around quite a bit. It's woven over the back and stapled so it sits unevenly on the floor, and my daughter has almost fallen off the thing. If she falls, she could hit a wall or furniture. It seems like the hero tax would jack up the price when buying from a "fire fighter".
Be careful and do your research beforehand.
