The length of your stick depends on whether you have long arms or short arms, but I usually buy 1/4" Dowling at about 36 inches. Your arms need to be stretched tightly when you fully extend your wings. In order to have the best control, the stick should extend up your arm a few inches. Please let me know if you have seen In the curtain department of Lowe's, I can purchase clear plastic sticks!
It's not a split on the back of the gold wings I purchased a few years ago. In the back of this picture, it looks like there is a split. There is a split in the back of the black pair I ordered recently. It's not entirely clear to me which one you mean. It would be great if you could speak to the manufacturer about this since Amazon sells
As the wing of the necklace, it is made of cloth. We have two sticks for it to be worn with.

We ordered three pairs and have been very happy with them so far. Their fabric is made of some kind of tissue lame, I suppose. I appreciate the fact that it is softer than some of the wings I have had in the past, and that it isn't scratchy around the neckline. A nice strong velcro bond keeps the wings in place on the neck and it's a pretty roomy and comfortable neck. I wish to convey the following advice There are a lot of words here. In addition to the fabric's great quality, the colors are as vivid as shown in the picture. Besides being high quality and the right size, they are thick and have a nice feel. The package does not include any sticks! It's my fault. I ordered them on October 21 for Halloween. My order was received On November 14. They do not have arm extending sticks (they do tell you that, but I didn't see them). It was hard to find another set locally, so I bought another one. With no sticks included, it would have been necessary to do so anyway. The lesson is FIND OUT WHAT THE FINEPRINT SAYS.
