All of the carabiners are made of stainless steel. 360 degree heavy bag swivel ceiling mount and chain set that is easy to mount and adjusts in height by about 12 inches in all stainless steel (allegedly 304 stainless). I was able to get this up and running in about 15 minutes, thanks to my toolboxes containing a 13mm nut driver, a pilot drill bit, and my Makita 18v drill motor. In a minute, I'll go into more detail on that. br>br>Pro- br>Pro- br>Pro- br>Pro- b
- Installation is simple and only requires two bolts. To keep the lags from breaking, I predrilled two holes in my 2x10 ceiling joists. br>- It comes with a four-point attachment chain that can be reduced to one if needed. To accommodate my specific bag, I used two points:br> The chains can be easily removed thanks to the split rings. br>- The bag is held in place by threaded, locking carabiners. br>- Swivels 360 degreesbr>- The ceiling mounting bracket is made of stainless steel and is cast in the shape of a heart. -br>-br>-br>-br>-br> Unlike most of these setups you see, which sell the chains and ceiling mount separately (and for a higher price), everything you need to mount and hang the bag is included. br>- Because my heavy bag weighs 80 pounds and is clumsy to handle, I needed a small work table to hold it while I connected the chains. It would be beneficial to have a companion. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this method.
- I can't think of any real "cons" based on my setup and use of this chain/hanger assembly, though I'm skeptical that it can hold 800 pounds as advertised in the description. But who has a heavy bag weighing in at 800 pounds? br>br>One thing to keep in mind is that the lag bolts that come with the kit are 13mm hex bolts that require a 13mm socket or nut driver to install. I predrilled pilot holes because, unlike grade 8 or even regular steel lags, stainless lags can be brittle and snap easily if overdriven, as I've learned from previous experience (and bad results). I hope this information is useful.
Have you ever seen someone who ordered something and ended up with something completely different? This is an example of one of those occurrences. The chain depicted in the image is the one that is described. The chain that comes with the hanging hardware and clips is at best light duty, and it will not be able to withstand the weight of a full heavy bag. This chain will most likely break after only a week due to friction wear. This item will be returned to you. br>br> br>br>Oh, and it was sent to me in a plastic envelope, by the way. By the time it arrived at my house, the envelope had been ripped open and the box inside was in bad shape. I'm returning the item in better condition than when I received it, as well as the box it came in. So sad. br>br>It was a huge letdown.
The mounting screws have a wonky thread and a tip/point design that will not tap into a hole. To get the threads to bite, I had to drill a pilot hole and pound the screw deeply into it, then apply significant pressure.
I'll admit that when I first saw this hanger, I was a little skeptical because the chains are so small compared to the heavy ones used at my gym. The mount, on the other hand, swivels 360 degrees and the chains have held up admirably. All it takes is a squirt of WD 40 once or twice a month. I have a 100-pound bag that works perfectly with it.
Excellent value for money. This product allowed me to hang up my 80-pound Everlast heavy bag, and it was incredibly simple to set up and maintain. With this addition to my garage gym, I can now train in my own garage.
I looked around for a while to see what I could get for my money, and this is a must-have if you're hanging a heavy bag.
For the money, it's a good deal. The only problem I had was that I should have drilled pilot holes for the bolts, which was my fault. One of the heads was snapped off.
I got it installed, but the carabiners that came with it had WAY TOO SMALL openings to attach to the loop ring on my 80-pound punching bag. You'd think that would be a universal issue, so I'm ordering four more.
