It's made to fit into an open hole and lay flat. It's slanted to keep the chips at the bottom of each row, so it won't lay flat unless you poke a hole in it.

I was getting impatient because this was a day late in being delivered, so I drew out the dimensions listed in the description. I'm glad I didn't cut the hole yet, because the measurements listed are completely incorrect. br>Mine is 16 5/8" x 7 1/2" and it fits perfectly.
When playing Black Jack or poker, I liked the 500 table chip because it was simple to distribute the money.
