It's a different kind of tape if it's on your thumb but not inside the thumb hole. It aids in the ball's release.

A fantastic product that has the potential to change the game

These were introduced to me by one of my league partners. I had to get my own after the first night of borrowing hers. For protection and consistent releases, I use both sides of my thumb. I put it on the outside of my thumb to protect against blisters (thumb hole is slightly too large) and on the inside of my thumb to improve my feel for my release at the bottom. The purpose of this tape is not to aid in the fitting process. Tape on the inside of the ball holes is required for this.

This is used on both sides of my thumb. I doubt I'd be bowling if it weren't for it. Love it. I've bowled 15 games in one day and it's still holding up like it was just put on. It is something I strongly suggest.

Tape performance was excellent

My ball was rubbing the back of my thumb, which was bothering me. I bought the tape to help me adjust my thumb pressure and prevent blisters and rubbing on my thumb. Tape was effective in both cases. It holds up well over the three to four games I usually bowl.
