I'd read a lot about Taom Pyro chalk online, including on a few billiard forums, and I'm still skeptical that there's a big difference in chalk when it comes to preventing miscues and throws, and I don't see how Taom Pyro is materially better than traditional Master in that regard. The reason I got it, however, was because of its reputation for cleanliness, and it's truly amazing in that regard. I've been shooting two or three hours per day, almost every day, for the past year. I've been using Master chalk for years, and it's so filthy that I have to wash my hands after each session, and it leaves marks and dust on the balls and cloth, requiring cleaning at least once a week. I've been using the same piece of Taom Pyro for three weeks and have yet to notice any chalk marks on the cue ball or any other ball. Except for a few spots where I was practicing the same shot dozens of times from the same spot on the table, I cleaned my cloth the day I got the Taom Pyro and have yet to see a chalk mark on it. My hand is free of any trace of chalk after a shooting session. I would not have believed it if someone had told me how clean this chalk was before hand, but it is incredible. Another noteworthy feature of Taom Pyro is that it appears to be extremely long lasting. At my rate of use, a single piece of Master chalk would have been replaced at least twice in three weeks, but the Taom Pyro looks brand new. The only criticism I have is that it is pricey; while it will never be as inexpensive as Master or most other chalks, if it lasts as long as various reports suggest (e. g. , one of which lasted six months and is still going strong), the additional cost will be significantly offset by its durability. It's been chastised for its round shape, which allows it to roll off a table, but that shouldn't be an issue if you place chalk on the table correctly (on the bottom), so I don't think it's much more than a nitpick. There isn't a round, stick-like object on the market yet. For it, I'd like to make a style chalk holder, but that will hopefully happen in the future. In comparison to the $18, the Amazon price of $28 is also quite high. On billiard supply websites, the 95 range is available, but shipping will almost certainly be charged, so the price difference may not be as great as it appears. This chalk is the one to get if keeping your balls, hands, and table clean is a problem.
Stupidly overpriced chalk, similar to other "premium" chalks, but well worth it. It's super clean, so you can play for hours without getting chalk on your hands or balls, and it's super concentrated, so one price lasts a long time; if you forget to apply it, it's no big deal because it stays on for a few extra shots compared to masters or other cheaper chalk. It's unlikely to make you "play better," but if you ever get in the zone and forget to chalk between shots, it could save you a few miscues, and not having chalk all over my hands and cue ball is worth the price of admission to me. With a clean cue ball, there are far fewer kicks or heavy contacts, and the throw is far more predictable. When I leave it on the table, I only wish my opponents would use it as well.
If you have a table of your own. You are well aware of how difficult it is to maintain a clean environment. This chalk is a work of art in and of itself. Both the table and the balls are immaculately clean. I approve as a true player who does not play at home. The only problem I have is that I am too self-centered! When I don't chalk every shot, it's easy for me to lose my rhythm. Because the chalk lasts so long on your tip, it accumulates on mine quite frequently; I've just learned to use a soft brush stroke. During a set or whenever I feel the need, I also clean my tip off. I chalk every shot, play league once a week, and practice 1-on-1 every month after two months. 12 hours per day, 4/5 days per week It hasn't been used even half as much as it should have been. In that time, I could finish a 12-pack of masters!.
This was purchased to correct any errors and to keep the house clean. Is it true that I no longer make mistakes? No. However, I am working a little more efficiently than the Master. Cleaner? Hand isn't as blue as Master's, and the cloth is a little cleaner after less than a week. So it should be fine after a few days. The price is absurd. Predator chalk can be had for a third of the price and can do the same, if not more, than the original.
It is also more environmentally friendly. My left hand fingers were blue at the end of a match or night of playing with friends because I chalked a little bit every time I stroked and with other chalks. This isn't the case with Taom Pyro Chalk.
This chalk is very nice. There is no messes, and the table is left spotless. It also appears to last a long time. I am extremely pleased.
This chalk does not leave any marks on the cue ball and does not smear all over the table. Yes, it is quite costly, especially for a single piece of chalk, but it is something I would strongly recommend.
It has a better grip on the tip and is less messy than the chalk I was previously using.
