This used to be talc, but now it's a cornstarch blend in a bottle half the size, which is unacceptable, especially given the price. I'm furious about this change and the lack of this information when ordering.
This isn't actually chalk. It's a cornstarch mixture, to be precise.
I was looking for talc, not cornstarch. Cornstarch could have been purchased for a lot less at the grocery store. I'm out of money because it's too late to return.
However, the corn starch in these 8 oz bottles is NOT TALC. This stuff irritates me because it doesn't glide as smoothly and predictably as TALC [which it isn't]. br>br>Save money by purchasing plain old corn starch to use in your gravy. Think about it. Warmth and moisture, combined with corn starch, result in gravy thickening. What effect does this have on sweaty hands in a sweltering dive bar? 8 ball in the gravy boat on the side, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm br>br>I'm going to throw these bottles away. Yuck.
Cornstarch is an expensive ingredient. Chalk is not an option. Cornstarch is a type of starch that comes from corn.
There's no talcum powder here, and there's no chalk here. My order was returned to me.
To achieve the desired thickness, combine 1 c latex paint, 4 t calcium carbonate, 1 t talc, and a little distilled water. Wow - What a silky-smooth application of chalk paint! This is the ingredient that makes the dish so special.
This powder was purchased with the intention of using it in the creation of chalk paint. It is extremely effective! It has a great consistency and spreads just like any other brand I've tried. For my purposes, this is excellent material.
