Product Description

By entering your model number, you can make sure that this fits.
The Venom Red Dot Sight-3 MOA promotes rapid target acquisition while also providing a precise point of aim, allowing you to get shots down range and on target quickly. The Venom's aluminum housing ensures that this unit can withstand whatever you throw at it.
A clean, wide field of view is provided by lenses that are fully multi-coated. To choose between 10 brightness levels, the sight's power and dot intensity controls are conveniently located on the left side.
If the shooter prefers, the Venom also has an auto-brightness mode, which controls dot intensity using an ambient light sensor. Free of the Parallax
Sighting is a breeze with 1 MOA wind age and elevation adjustments. Because you won't have to remove your glasses to change the power source, the top load system makes replacing the CR1632 battery a breeze.
The Venom Red Dot will attach to your rifle or shotgun with ease, giving you maximum versatility. O-ring seals keep moisture, dust, and debris out for consistent performance in any environment.

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to mount this on a rail? Is it possible to attach it to a regular rail?

A picatinny rail will be used to mount the sight. A dove tail mount is required for a semi-automatic pistol that is not pre-cut for the sight. Remove the rear sight and replace it in the dovetail after attaching the sight to the mount.

Is there any additional mounting hardware required for this to be installed on a FNX 45 tactical or is it a direct fit?

Yes, it attaches to an FNX-compatible device. 45 Tactical, I can tell you that because I did it! Only two of the five can be used at a time. There should have been 40 mounting screws included with your FNX- There is no need for a mounting plate, modifications, or anything else. There are only two screws and a small blue lock-in device. tite tite tite tite tite tit

Is there any way to adjust the brightness of this sight?

The brightness of the Venom Red Dot can be adjusted in ten levels.

Is this compatible with a regular Glock 17 gen 3 (not mos)? I think I'm going to need a Glock mount plate. Do you have any idea what mount plate the Vortex Venom will work with?

You can get an EGW (Evolution Gun Works) plate for Glock Gen 3/Gen 4 that mounts using the rear sight dovetail, mount to the rail with something like a UM Tactical UM3 rail mount (mount surrounds the slide and optic is forward), or have your Glock milled for the optic plate. The best option is to mill the slide. If you're looking for an EGW plate for your Vortex Venom, this is the place to go. It's 49313, and it's from them. Keep in mind that this mount plate is made of aluminum, which will be harmed by even a brass punch. To align the dovetail, use a phenolic/plastic or wood dowel punch, and be prepared to remove some material from the plate dovetail to make it fit. It is held in place by set screws - However, locktite should also be used, and keep in mind that using the dovetail plate will raise the optic higher than if the slide were milled. I have a Trijicon RMR and a Glock 19 MOS with the plate. I suppose mounting the Glock to the dovetail will make dot acquisition even more difficult, but if you're just getting your feet wet with the idea of an optic, the dovetail might be a low-cost option. I also have a SIG P226 equipped with a Romeo1 and a Canik TP9Sfx equipped with a Trijicon RMR. In terms of dot acquisition, both the SIG and Canik are far superior to the Glock 19 MOS in my opinion. Best wishes to you. I have a Vortex Venom that I used to put on a S Victory with a capital W 22 utilizing the provided rail - The Venom's vertical adjustment range was insufficient to raise the point of aim. It was fine after I put a Trijicon RMR on it; my experience with the Venom may have been a fluke, but the RMR was fine without changing the mount. Best of luck.

Selected User Reviews For Vortex Optics Venom Red Dot Sights

Overall, excellent service, a lifetime warranty, and a quality that appears to be comparable to red dots that cost twice as much
5/5

My first firearm was a Glock 17 MOS, which I used in plate shoot competitions (at 15 yards) several times before putting it away for a few months and replacing it with a Tangfolio Witness Elite Match, which I love and can shoot well with. I bought this Vortex Venom red dot to use with the MOS feature of my Glock 17. I had never shot with a red dot before, so I took it to the range and zeroed it at 7 yards, 15 yards, and finally 25 yards with about 100 rounds. I noticed that the groups were very tight at 15 yards during the range session, so I decided to take it to the next plate shoot night, which was "Low light shooting" night. I was blown away by the targeting system's accuracy and consistency. I not only won the competition, but I also went undefeated, and it's all thanks to this little red dot. During the competition, I shot about 100 rounds, and the zero remained flawless. Needless to say, the Glock 17 MOS with the Vortex Venom is my favorite firearm for plate shoot competition, and I plan to try it for USPSA next time. br>br>Features include auto shut off (after many hours) and auto brightness of the red dot based on ambient light, but you can also adjust the brightness with the Up/Down arrows on the side, and the total height of the sight feels very low compared to some other red dots I have seen. However, seeing the target through the glass is very easy when targeting. The only disadvantage is that I sometimes have difficulty finding the dot when bringing the firearm up to firing position. Perhaps a joint venture. While looking for the dot, the witness front sight would tell me if I was aiming too high, too low, left or right, but when shooting with a dot, the focus should be on the target, and I'm afraid that a co-worker would be able to tell me if I was aiming too high, too low, left or right. Because using witness front sight would cause me to focus on it out of habit, I'm going to try using it as is for a while to see if I can get better at finding the dot. br>br>In order to get the correct screws for the Glock 17 MOS, I called Vortex at (800) 426-6666. I dialed 0048 x4 and was immediately connected to a live person. I informed her that I had placed an order for the Vortex Venom and that the screws for mounting it on the Glock were missing. She requested my name and address, and the screws arrived free of charge two days later in an envelope. I've also included some photos showing how to put it on a Glock 17 MOS. br>br>Overall, I believe I got more value from this purchase than any other accessory I've bought so far, thanks to great service, a lifetime warranty, and the same quality as red dots that cost twice as much. br>br> br>br> br>br> br>br> br>br> br>br I've used it for nearly every competition I've entered, and I've shot over 1000 rounds with it. Since I first zeroed it, it has remained stable and I have not had to adjust it. At this point, I'm pretty sure the hit will be right where the dot is, and all I have to do now is make sure the dot is on the target. br>br>4/16/2018 UPDATE - After writing this review, I went out and bought another one, which I installed on my Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match 22lr conversion kit. This one was mounted using an EGW plate, and it's been performing admirably. In the meantime, I transferred the once I had on my G17 to my G34 so that I could practice IDPA with iron sights on my G17. The dot was dead on when I switched it from one Glock to the other (both are Gen 4 MOS). In fact, since I first noticed it, I haven't touched the adjustment screws. I turn it on during competitions and don't turn it off until we pack up and leave, and the dot is still as bright as it was the first day. I've also used it in USPSA-style competitions, and I have no trouble seeing the dot during daylight hours. I never adjust the brightness because the auto brightness feature works well in low light as well as during the day (when it's sunny). I simply turn it on when I arrive and turn it off when I leave. ███.

PLEASE READ THIS IF THE DOT IS OFF
5/5

It's your eyes, not the red dot, that's the problem if the dot is fuzzy. My dot appeared to be a huge blob, but I discovered that it was due to my astigmatism. Contact lenses will help and your dot will work perfectly; glasses, unless they are astigmatism corrective lenses, won't help much. If you plan on purchasing this, keep in mind that only prism-type optics will function without correction. What method do you use to put it through its paces? Take a picture of your red dot; I'm sure it'll turn out to be a perfect circle. br>br>Now it's time to get to the red dot. It's very sturdy; I wouldn't hesitate to use it to rack the slide against something. After about 1000 rounds, the dot still holds zero and is dead on. The optic is crystal clear and ideal for use in dimly lit areas. It's bright enough to work in direct sunlight, and the battery is simple to swap out. br>br>Customer service is fantastic; I requested screws for my Glock and they arrived quickly and free of charge. You're also conversing with someone who is fluent in English. The warranty is by far the most appealing feature. They will correct any problems that arise. On a product like this, a lifetime warranty is invaluable. I'm 100% satisfied and will continue to buy their products,

Inconsistent Red Dot/Good New Unit When you use the red dot, it turns off
4/5

When the dot on a Springfield XDM went out, I had fired about 90 rounds. When I turned it back on, it shut off after a few rounds. I tightened the battery cover, fired a few rounds, and then turned the gun off. I completed another 50 rounds of the same cycle before giving up. A silver plate fell out of the battery cover when I opened it to replace the battery. I sent it back to Vortex for repair, and when I got it back a few weeks later, I opened the box and tried to turn it on, but there was no red dot (Vortex claimed they tested it after repair). It turned on the first time after I replaced the battery, but it wouldn't turn on when I mounted it on my pistol. It turned on after I loosened the battery cover. When I went to the range the next day, it wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the battery cover, and it occasionally turned on, but not always. Vortex was notified, and the item was returned to them to be repaired. I'm hoping for a new one because I wasn't happy with the first one. I'm not sure what I'll do if it fails after I've received it. EDIT: br>br> br>My original rating was one star, but it has been changed to four stars because the manufacturer replaced the unit the second time I returned it for repair. I put the new unit through its paces (150 rounds) and it was perfect.

This is just one problem that Vortex could easily solve
4/5

The GOOD: It's almost perfect. This is the best value for money when it comes to accuracy. A fantastic red dot all around. The BAD: I mounted it on my Glock 40 GEN4 MOS and it's fantastic! I'm not sure why Vortex chose such a low-quality battery cover for this sight. When the battery is installed, it is difficult to open and close. Because the slot where the screwdriver goes is so shallow, it's nearly impossible to close it without scratching the cover. Vortex, are you serious? Because the cover will not survive another battery exchange, I ordered a replacement as soon as I received the battery. IN A NUMBER OF WORDS: Is it likely that I will purchase this site in the future? You bet! Any day! It's fantastic, and it's far superior to their Viper sight.

A red dot that is solid
5/5

Mounted the red dot to my Mark IV, which was a great deal. It was very simple to zero. On the first day of use, I probably fired 400 rounds through the gun. I'm glad I chose the small dot. In the future, I'll undoubtedly purchase more vortex optics.
