Questions & Answers

In order to use this, does the choke need to be removed?

To clean your shotgun properly, it is recommended that you remove the chokes. Although there will be no issue in using this boresnake with a choke still in place. It's been a pleasure working with

For what purposes does a cleaning rod still need to be used? Thanks a lot. ?

This system is marketed as an organic field cleaning method. Generally, when you get home there is little to clean, so you can find other things to do with the cleaning rod. If you are unsure how the bore snake works, it works best with Bore Venom cleaning product. Consider watching the video on the company's website or via youtube to see the process in action.

What are the chances this will work on a 12 gauge Maverick 88 shotgun that uses 2 3/4" shells and 3" Is it going to be difficult to pull through the ?

In this case, the snake is for 28 gauge shotguns, but it will work just fine on a shotgun with a 12 gauge chamber. The chamber length has no bearing on how the bore snake performs. To get the snake through the barrel, it will take a firm pull. A vacuum that pulled easily would not be doing the job

It says Viper in the ad, but the photo of the package does not show the Viper, so what are we looking at?

The white one on the picture is exactly what I received. There are no plastic connectors connecting the smallest cable with the big floss where the cable meets the cable. As opposed to that, there is a piece of raw, fluffy meat. The bristles are brass and there are two sections. "Hoppe's No 9 - " is written on its tag It has a model number of 24035 The fittest people are The gun is a 12 Ga, so it's the same as the one in the picture. I can see the Viper model in the description, but it's not the one shown here. There is definitely a little deception going on there, but it's still a great tool.

The 12 gauge shotgun is the most common shotgun size
3/5

There is no need for a complete clean. During the firing of the gun, I fired 25 shells. It was very disappointing to find out that it failed to My first patch ran through the barrel along with two patches of We tried to clean our patches with 9 solvent and two clean patches in order to remove the fouling. My brand new Boresnake went thru the machine four times, and were all dry runs. Upon looking in the barrel, it was apparent that it was not clean. I proceeded to run a barely-oiled, clean patch through it, and you can see what happened in the two photos below. A quick field cleaning may be possible, but it has definitely not been cleaned thoroughly enough to be re-used. Let me know if I did not do it correctly if you see anything wrong.

It is Hoppe's cleaning floss that is best for Boresnake type cleaning
5/5

Both the handguns and rifles available in these Boresnakes are great to me, and I've had them for many years. They're great for cleaning at the range, or for any occasion when you don't want to spend too much time on it. Moreover, the weapon does not even need to be broken down You just need to drag the snake through it a couple of times to clear it. This is done. The following warning has been issued Unlike some of the other knockoffs, such as RangeMxxx, these are not of the same quality. There are several brands of 'off' that are not compatible with the gun, and some do not example, I used to have a RangeMxxx. It would even be hard to put in the barrel of a 223 rifle. I have 9 snakes, so I can confidently state that Hoppe's is the best.

This bore snake is of exceptional quality
5/5

The item had previously been bought at a lower price. It's not a good idea to buy one. If you must buy one, then get The quality of these is much better. I love how easy it is to use and clean this snake. The range bag is compact and easy to throw it in to clean on the go. Even a cleaning rod hardly gets used.

It is unlikely that you will keep the brass tip from falling They are perfect for cleaning out a shotgun barrel, as I have had many of these snakes through the years
5/5

I need to step on the brass tip to lift the thin cord through the barrel, but if I step directly on the brass tip the brass tip falls apart. In general, I use a lead pencil weight and tie a Duncan Loop fishing knot to replace the time ithe.

It's a shame that bore snakes are useless, but I love them
5/5

I am giving 5 stars primarily because I like and use bore snakes, but I also wanted to share a picture of how my bore snake arrived. The package was open on one side, and the bristles were in contact with the rope, causing it to be severely frayed. I look forward to a better return when I return.

Shotgunners and other serious shooters will not want to be without this
5/5

The rules are changing every once in a while due to a new product. Those of you who shoot a lot will find that this will make cleaning your bores simpler. This product is perfect for field and range use, as it only takes a few seconds for the bore to be cleaned and lubricated. With just a few passes, most, if not all, of the gunk will be removed. If you need to give your gun a quick clean, or when you need to give your firearm a pre- or post-season tune-up, use it. On the brush end, you can do you favorite CLP, or good 'ol Hoppe's #9 solvent, and on the tail end, your favorite gun oil. If it gets dirty, you can simply wash it in a bucket or basin and let it air dry before using The two I keep in a zip-loc bag are as follows My field pack contains two lock bags, one in the range bag and one in my field pack. It will change your gun cleaning forever if you get one and use it.

A bore snake is a great tool for cleaning
5/5

the BoreSnake to clean my 12 gauge hunting shotguns. If you haven't used one yet, you are really missing out on an amazing cleaning tool. In combination with rope and brush - They are just a great patch section. These reusable and washable bags are made of plastic. You should use these for your regular shooting in all the calibers that you use. Cleanup is a cinch with it. *Unless you think how it works is strange, the little weight on the end of the black cord is simply dropped through the throat of the barrel and caught at the muzzle (put it in the back by the trigger and pull it out towards the muzzle where the shot escapes from). Just pull the black chord and the brush will be inserted into the barrel while the rope follows. Even though I was a bit nervous about the toughness of the black cord, I was able to pull it easily. When you run it all the way through, then it will substitute for one brush and patch pass - I am listening. Once you've done that a few times, run a clean patch, and you should be good to go. It is crucial to not forget the  .

The BoreSnake is exactly what a lazy shotgunner needs to keep his hands free
5/5

As much as I hate cleaning my shotgun after hunting season, I am unable to avoid it. My avoidance of the task can cause it to sit for weeks. It was amazing to pass through each barrel of the OU in a single pass! It is necessary to clean up the other areas from handling or residue, and to oil the barrels for long-term For the hands to remain intact, the best thing to do is to wear gloves. If a short piece of dowel or any short piece of wood can be used, the cord can be tucked around it to pull the snake though and save the hands from having to grip it. Also, I would caution you to make sure that you are clear of the O/U ejectors, especially those that extend and could either be caught by the snake or damaged if you are.
