It is not 40" long, and I don't even need to measure it in order to tell you that. About 30 inches is what I would estimate. Would you mind telling me if your barrel It sounds like you have a crazy antique or custom gun that a bore snake should never come into contact with. The coated bore rod from boretech is the best choice. In 338, they are made to a height of 60 inches.
