Yes, it'd be fantastic.
As long as your optic prevents it from lying flat on the magnet, that is. If the slide you're using isn't flat, for example. The top of my Sig Sauer M17 is rounded and will not lay flat.
YEAH! It includes two sets of four screws (each with a different size for a different application). It's simple to mount on a wall, though I recommend securing it to a stud or using expanding dry wall mounting screws, especially if you plan to rack the slide while it's mounted. I'd use the above-mentioned hardware to secure it to the wall even if it's just going to hold the firearm magnetically. It's a VERY strong magnet, and removing it repeatedly will wear out even the most basic mounting hardware. Cheers!

So, I originally purchased this for my husband and his 9mm Sig Sauer pistol. With his gun, however, it didn't work out so well. As a result, I gave it a shot on my signature. 380, and it worked flawlessly; I intend to have it professionally installed in my car. It performs admirably. The internal magnet is extremely powerful. It easily slides and cocks the gun. It's a fantastic tool to have for quick drawing. I'd suggest it.
When I first heard about this device, images of cowboys brawling at a poker table with the dealer's hand resting on a single action six-pack came to mind. It occurred to me to mount a shooter under the table. br>br>Impressions: br>br> br>The magnet holds the gun vertically from the top of the slide, allowing your hand to rest comfortably on the grip. Pushing the grip forward engages the front of the slide with two small lips on the magnet, chambering a round, if you prefer to keep an empty chamber but need the gun quickly. Just make sure you don't fire the gun too quickly. The magnet is attached to the bottom of a desk or dashboard using the included screws. While the magnet is being screwed in, it will be held in place by a piece of adhesive. IMPORTANT: br>br> The magnet doesn't have a safety catch or a lock. Your firearm can be taken by anyone. br>br>Despite the fact that the magnet is soft, ish plastic coating, I noticed a small white mark on the front top of the slide after cocking the mounted gun several times. br>br>Some important things to remember: 1) There is no lock or safety on the magnet to prevent your gun from being removed or fired. br>2) If you have children, please do not leave your gun in the magnet. Despite the strength of the magnet, a child will be able to unmount your gun. br>3) When you leave, make sure your firearm is in the magnet so it doesn't fall into the wrong hands by accident. br>3) There is a STRONG magnet. Make sure your fingers don't get caught between the gun and the magnet. br>4) Have I mentioned how powerful the magnet is? If you put credit cards or other magnetic-sensitive devices too close to the magnet, they might get damaged. Please do not inquire as to how I know this.
This magnet's function is exactly what I was looking for. It has excellent magnetic retention, and the built-in lip can be used to cycle a round into the chamber if desired. It is small enough to fit in my truck cab almost anywhere. My only complaint is that the magnet's tape isn't very strong and has already fallen off my panel twice, and I don't want to drill holes in my truck's dash panels. To ensure that the surface was clean before installation, I used alcohol and a tack cloth to clean it. To mount this magnet, I'll have to use some 3M double-sided body panel tape. If you have some strong double-sided tape or are going to use screws, I would recommend this magnet.

The adhesive is extremely strong, and the screws are also helpful. I had no trouble adhering the magnet to the back of the nightstand, and it easily accommodates my Beretta. I don't chamber with it, but it appears to be capable of doing so if someone so desires. I didn't have to be concerned about it getting damaged in transit. br>I mounted this under my desk with my power drill/driver, and it couldn't have been any easier. Even if I hadn't used a power tool, the included mounting screws sunk into the wood desk with ease. br>br>I've experimented with a few different semi-automated systems. All of them were automatic handguns, and they all worked flawlessly. From a Glock to a Kel-Tec, there's a lot to learn about firearms Tec, they all stayed put while releasing with ease. If I need to, I should be able to remount it and move it without difficulty. I'm still debating whether or not I should get another for my car. br>br>Having said that, I have no reservations in recommending this.
I have a Springfield XDM40 and a 9mm Taurus, and this magnetic mount holds and fits them very well. The gun does not shake, move, or fall out of the mount when I hit potholes or bumps in the road. br>My only criticism is that the sticky tape is largely ineffective and that the screws provided should be used instead. Although the sticky tape works well for holding it in place while the screws are being installed. Having said that, I didn't expect the sticky tape to hold up to holding a 40 double stack pistol up without screws, but I tried it anyway and failed. I have one in my car and another in my truck, so I would recommend it.
This gadget is ideal for making a quick grab from a hidden location. The magnetic adhesion is extremely strong, so your pistol will stay put no matter how bumpy the ride gets. Its design is well suited to a Glock's square shape. If yours has an aftermarket front sight that is longer than stock, like the TruGlow pictured, you'll need to make a modification to maximize the embedded magnet's full contact surface. The issue I had was that in order for my front sight to clear this holder, the Glock slide had to hit the two protrusions molded at one end, causing the slide to be held at an angle, resulting in a poor magnet grab. Dremeling the two protrusions away and smoothing them out was my solution. Sorry, there are no "before" or "after" pictures in my review, only "after. " The device's integrity was not harmed as a result of my fix.
