Questions & Answers

How well do they work with loud yard appliances such as lawn mowers and blowers?

Turning them off is the only way to get them to work. No, I don't own these headphones, but as someone who actually owns them A lawn mower will not be able to use them. The only exception is if you turn them off, in which case you're paying a premium for muffs with a microphone and speakers. While wearing the headphones, you can hear every sound outside because two forward-facing microphones listen to all sounds outside. Normally when it detects a sudden, sharp noise, the cutoff circuit is engaged Taking aim with a hammer, touching the air with an air nailer, or using a gunshot. A constant stream of loud noises, such as heavy machinery, power tools, saws, planes, etc. In some cases they can further amplify the noise since they do not trigger the cutoff.

How do you tell the direction from which people are speaking?

The answer is yes, Even louder sounds, such as gunshots, are amplified by these devices (although not as loud as plain audio). You can easily distinguish from where sounds are coming by using the microphone on each earpiece.

Compared to the Peltor Tac100, how do they compare?

A solid, consistent hearing protection system, the RangeGuard offers a 21 decibel noise reduction rating, compared to the 22 decibel rating of the popular Peltor TAC 100 model. It is possible for your hearing to be impacted if you are shooting indoors with a high caliber weapon, using an extremely high caliber weapon, or in the presence of that much gunfire. Protection from the elements is excellent outside, and in most circumstances you can feel confident that you are In my over 100 hours of use with the RangeGuard (both indoors and outdoors with a variety of firearms), I have yet to experience any notable shortcomings in the noise reduction of this Under some circumstances, you may be able to hear the audio a little louder than you would like, but the average gun owner will never need a more powerful

Do you think that it fits under a helmet? Earmuffs are generally thick on one side, but how thick is the other?

The ACHs have a large size, so I can fit them under it. The ACH that I usually have is a medium size. A little bit of pushing goes on but there is still enough movement for a cheek weld to be possible.

We have a winner! We have made a good product and it's comfortable and efficient
5/5

In a nutshell, In comparison to the two other main competitors, the Walker's Razor and the Howard Leight, I found this one to be superior. It is safe to say that the Peltor is the best option. It's a medium (large) and my wife's for her I find the audio quality to be very good, and it sounds as if you are not wearing a single thing These are some of the most comfortable ear protection you can find. When it comes to how well it protects your hearing, it definitely provides sufficient protection indoors for most It was no problem at all shooting even at a focal length of 10mm. If you plan on using Magnum revolvers or rifles, you might need to double-check Whether you are shooting outdoors or indoors, make sure the aperture is up. I have yet to find anything that causes a problem outdoors. I saw a guy shooting a 338 Lapua Magnum last time I went to the range, and while it was loud, it wasn't

ACH (medium) is not a problem for me
5/5

If I need to hear commands not from the tower (voice commands) on range days, I was looking for a better option using some electronic ear protection with ACH. I have a ACH and an eye pro that are perfectly matched with this model. In spite of owning an electronic Howard Leight pair of earmuffs, it felt like I was putting my head into a vice if I used them under ACH. couldn't stand the pain and pressure of Howard's earmuffs it caused a terrible migraine. Howard's is the last thing I want in my life and I have refused to use it at all! As a result of my Peltor, I am very comfortable and my audio is clear and natural. It is an essential piece of gear for soldiers to use during range days. You can hear commands, PMI, and save your hearing (must have). I updated the 14th of March 2018 with the following The last 4 days I have worn it during competitions with and without the ACH, it is quite comfortable, does the job well, and cuts off the shot sound without cutting it off The results so far have been excellent.

Providing a better experience than the competition
5/5

In my quest to find good shooting protection, I've been around the block several times. As an Airsoft player, I also use them for MILSIM Airsoft events, so having a pair of headphones that amplifies noise and provides hearing protection on the range is crucial to me. I will follow that with a quick list of pros and cons of the Howard Leights Sports (HL), Walker Razors (WR), Peltor 100 Sports (100s), and Fit and comfort H. L. People often say that Howard Leights don't fit so great to them, and that is true for some. For me, it was mostly In comparison to the other three competitors, these don't quite fit as well as the other 2, but if you play with them for a bit, you'll find the sweet spot, which fits As someone with a smaller head, the HL seems to sag just a hair it is not even noticeable if you are not thinking about it. This may be the case for a person with a smaller head as well. In addition to not being too comfortable for a long time, the HL are the least profile in the group as well, thanks to the small foam pads inside. The HL are also the lowest profile out of the bunch. In short, WR These earplugs were the best fitting I have ever had, and one of the best fitting by a long shot. They stayed over my ears with absolutely no hassle and they have an amazing seal on your head. You can wear these high-quality socks for hours on end without feeling uncomfortable. One of the best things about them is the thick padding. WR has the tallest profile out of the rest of the group. I support them 100 percent, RG As you can see there are no major differences in fit and comfort between the 100 and RG. The seal around the ear is absolutely AMAZING, and the WR closes the gap with it. You can wear them for a long time on the shooting range thanks to the thick padding and nice comfort. It is like pulling on the 100 or RG, and they both fit like a glove. The 100 and RG are the shortest and widest models
The sound quality is very crisp and clear. H. L. My personal experience with the HL was that it was hands down, no question the best for the purpose of amplification of ambient noise—you can easily pick up on the slightest noise and understand a whisper from as far away as 15 feet The biggest issue I had with these and the real reason I did not use them was that even after having two pairs, they do not have enough volume reduction to keep me satisfied (while they are There could have been some issue with the seal on the ear or there could have been a little sagging on my head, either way I had to send these back for the sound deadening not to work for me. In short, WR When you first turn the earpro on, you will immediately hear the noise, and for me it sounds artificial and this is simply a deal breaker, particularly when the device is designed to block ambient noise rather than Despite how much I wanted to like them, the plain fact that they were so loud is the reason I returned them. In addition, Deadening on the other hand was amazing with the WR, and was tied for second place. When you hit the mutes, the sound cuts off instantly, and there is no lag apparent from what I observed. I believe. *100 The 100's, as far as I am concerned, had the worst sound amplification of all the ear pro I have The sound of the ear could be heard There's also a pro-participation thing where you pick and choose what sounds to subtract from and what to amplify, and I believe (and I could be wrong) that the 100s are digital, and unfortunately, I think this has led to its demise. Although it is very difficult to tell, according to what I said previously my ear did seem to be buzzing You push the cup towards your ear and then pull it away, kind of like how you would do it with a cup. The sound was just awful with your naked ear and you could hardly hear anything even with the volume set to maximum. We found the noise deadening to be by far the best out of the bunch, no lag time for noise elimination and by far the most effective in the industry. The RG We got a pretty good mix from both of these sets. The sound amplification was not as good as the HL, but it was still very good and gave you hearing levels that you would otherwise not be able to reach Likewise, they aren't the best at amplifying ambient noise, but they can certainly do the trick. When they're turned on, these also have spectacular sound cut off however they are not quite as good as the 100's. I would say that these and the WR have similar noise cancellation capabilities. These features include A complete set of ear- Three pros are contained in the pros section. As a pro), therefore I will mostly focus on aspects of H. L. On the HL it has a 3 threaded system. The FM radio and mp3 player accompany this phone with excellent sound quality over a 3. 5 mm jack. It might be a problem for some if they are afraid of rubbing against a surface or of the wire tearing off their earphones because of the angle at which the jack port sticks out, but it isn't a deal breaker for most people. The pro is. It takes some time to get the hang of how to use the volume dial, but once you do, it becomes intuitive. It's hard to overstate how important I find the soft cover material on the HL for wind protection, which is one of my biggest fan favorites. In short, WR My opinion is that the walker razors have the best features. The volume knob is more intuitive, the dial is an up and down one rather than a side to side one, and the large dial makes it easier to use. I like getting music from the radio and MP3, but again the white noise is horribly loud. There are three places to start. Because the 5mm jack is oriented downward, there is no possibility of it shearing, while the 3mm jack is vertical. Upon plugging up the 5mm jack, it comes with a cover so that you can hide it afterwards. Overall, the finish on the WR is the best, with a rubberized smoothness to it. These ones don't have exterior microphone cover material, and I can hear wind much better with them, so a major thumbs down in my book and another reason why The following is a summary of the RG 100 As mentioned above, there are three. Its 5mm jack is oriented down as is the WR (whereas the RG is orientated at a downward angle of a sideways angle as is the HL) and getting the batteries in and out is by far the simplest, among all the headsets. As for the volume adjustment knob, it is up and down, which is nice, but without any tactile markings, so it's hard to tell where you want the volume to be set with gloves on. In both of these there is a microphone wind cover material and again it is a must have for my purposes. Audio was so bad with the 100's, and a MP3 or radio turned out to be no match for the RG. I would like to close with the following thoughts HL worked for thousands out there and I'm sure they worked for you as well, but for me getting something that really deadened noise was the most important factor when searching for a set of earphones and the HL just couldn't do it. My use of the RG was benefited from the sound amplification quality being good and the ambient sound deadening being effective having the microphone wind material was key to my use of the RG. With the 100's, there was simply no ambient amplification and with the WR, there was way too much white noise mixed with zero My recommendation is to buy these ones you can always return them if you don't like them. Hope this helps, and head over to Howard Leights if you don't like them.

This is perfect for trips to the range on a regular basis
5/5

In addition to teaching concealed carry, my husband runs a firearm Instagram page, so he is always on A number of ear pro products have been tried by him He likes a wide variety of products ranging from low-priced to high-priced. For his birthday in October, I decided to buy him these particular ones because a friend has them and raves about I received these as a gift for my husband, and he was thrilled. The two of them are loved by him. There have been Peltors in the past, just not the ones he has now. Compared to the others, he enjoys these the most. It is soft and lightweight. I find them to be comfortable and effective, and they have been working well for me. Additionally, they have great noise-cancellation capabilities while allowing you to talk to others, and being able to connect to your phone is a nice extra feature. Storage is made easy by their ability to fold up. Furthermore, they look like they will hold up for quite some time. My opinion is that you got what you paid for.

Comfortable, but not good enough to block out loud sounds when used on range
3/5

I must admit that these are better than the Howard Leight Sports headphones because they are better fit and have better directional audio to my ears. As for 9mm, I find it quite uncomfortable to listen to for longer than about 20 rounds of shooting. These are not actually designed for high-volume shooting or shooting with loud volume. If you use these plugs, you end up having to double up on the plugs, which is what I have to do. - and the reason I am not returning them - is that they are low profile and have a great fit, so I believe I will use them doubled over when I shoot rifles. Because of the poor sound reduction, it will be impossible for me to deal with these things while on duty as a range officer. In the meantime, I will have to stick to my Howard Leight Pros until I find something better that blocks all sound or at least as much as they do. In a nutshell,.
