It is much more effective in my opinion. Deer cane is preferred by the deer in my area, but if rack up is available, they will take it. They've gone to the deer cane site because I haven't put rack up in a few years and have some leftover deer cane, but I'm confident that if I put this out, they'll abandon the deer cane site completely.
In North Central Pennsylvania, we begin our mineral sites after the late archery/muzzleloader season (2nd week of January). I placed one bag of Rack-It-All in the middle of the table. Each sight will be visited once a month until July. I have a single site on a 100-acre property. We have two methods for doing it: One is on a stump, and the other is either directly on the ground or on the end of a log about 24" in diameter. We put the mineral out the first or two times, then 25 kernel corn and 1/2 gallon molasses. We stop adding corn and molasses after the second month because they tend to attract bears. They're still hitting the stumps or ground area in July.
Pour dirt on top and walk away at any time. It is not required to have a block.

Years ago, I bought this product and noticed how deer flock to it as if it were the only food source in the woods. This book comes highly recommended.
We had deer coming to the licking stump three months after we stopped applying it in April of last year, so it's a fantastic long-lasting mineral product. So far, this is the best mineral we've discovered.
It appeals to the deer. It appeared to be successful.
