The best tool I've ever used
5/5

This is a highly misused word. The first thing you have to realize is that if you are piercing your fabric, you are doing it incorrectly. Pins are usually too thick, so it's no surprise. I'm a dunce, you know. Rather than being a clasp, clasp pins are more properly called clasps. When pin is heard, people become blinded by it. Is it possible that a cotton of old would cause holes and stress on fabric that is difficult to find? Is that so? Could you please tell me if you understand that? There should be no reason for this. An item of clothing such as a 5' x 3' wool blanket cloaked in this pin is quite common. (The size of the ring corresponds to the weight of the fabric. 1) Pull two corners over your shoulders to form the basic shape of the cloak. As if playing Superman was a kid's game. What you have to do is what you have to do. Take the ring and place it over these two parts that you are Binding the fabric is accomplished by the pin going under The pin should pass through the gap and the ring should be twisted. The pin has been captured. This is not as difficult as you seem to be making it out to be. Whenever you make a mistake, take action to correct it. Your parents probably did not have these when you were a kid. It is used this way and I know how they work. Putting up with the tearing is pointless. What a crazy idea.

This is a heavy duty job
5/5

I found this pin to be perfect for my needs. It struck me as inappropriate to wear a delicate pin with a wool blanket when I'm in the woods, and the other ones I looked at were too small for my needs. A large flat pin on the side of this thing has a blunt end. The diameter of the pin is also large. A sturdy wool blanket that is not prone to tearing or warping, it is perfect. It has a plain but attractive pin with a nice twist to it, it is useful and not ugly at the same time. It would be better if you had a sharper, finer pin for something like your fine velvet cloak, scarf, and so on, but if you have a hefty garment for which this is to be used, it works well. You can tell that it's mild steel as it developed a thin rust film after the first use of it. Generally, steel will do this as it is, and it is not a defect in the product. If you want to avoid this, you can lubricate it religiously with either gun oil or possibly olive oil, however the gun oil won't go rancid. Although I know the pin will rust, I am not concerned about oiling it because every time I drive the pin through the blanket the oil would get wiped away. As the pin on this thing is not very sharp, you will need to apply some pressure when you pin it. Although it's still pointy, you should place the pin in such a way that it's away from your vitals. (Who wants to be poked by a sharp rusty pin anyway, so it's a good thing that this pin is not sharp. ) This is a very effective piece of equipment for handling a heavy garment, not just a cute thing for stuff like a scarf or weak costumes. There is a very good chance I will purchase a few.

It's so cool to have a pin like this! As a gift for my wife, I got her this shawl for when it is cool inside the house, but she struggles to keep it over her shoulders as she moves
5/5

She was afraid that it would poke a hole in her shawl, but it doesn't, so she loves it. Her shawl was wrapped around her waist and fastened with this pin, making it look like a skirt with a cool fastener the other day. She had leggings on and was cold, but didn't want to change, so she wrapped it around her waist. This was a great purchase, I am so glad I took a chance. My guess is we'll take it to next year's Renn Faire as well!.

For cloaks that need a lot of protection
5/5

The furniture is sturdy, of a good size, and has a nice appearance. I use this brooch for my heavy wool viking cloak or blanket. I like it better than some other weaker ones I have tried before on Amazon. This is an excellent book! I recommend it highly! It might be bronzed later to make it look nicer.

Pin with a large, heavy, thick head
4/5

It is quite the beast and larger than I expected (larger than my palm) and the pin is very thick (meaning don't poke into delicate or tight-woven things like that As long as neither of these two issues is a deal breaker, it's definitely a heavy duty machine. It took me a while to find out how to do this (it's readily available on YouTube) but it does create a nice drape after all. Because the dress is fairly heavy, your fabric should have enough strength to hold its weight, or it will slide down your shoulders.

This is a heavy and dull day
3/5

There is a lot of weight on this. My wrap falls down when I wear it. My pin part is so big and dull that I cannot force it through the fabric without tearing the fabric. To darn the two holes left by the pin, I had to use a darner. My first attempt was to reinforce the holes so I could use the pin, but the pin is too heavy and big for the holes.

A sturdy frame
5/5

To remove the packaging oil, use 0000 steel wool to check for burrs and a little dish soap to remove the packaging oil. There are a lot of things in it. There were no burrs to be found. In order to prevent snagging to my clothing, I wanted to take additional measures. Three inches is all it is. A hammer and anvil will be your best tool if you need to adjust it.

The oil had been applied to the item upon arrival
3/5

Although I love the pin's look and usefulness, it came packaged in a cellophane bag and was coated in oil on the inside. If it had leaked out onto the box, it left oily spots, and if it had been intentional, no sign or explanation had taken place. Because we're on lockdown, returning it was more trouble than going through the trouble of cleaning it twice. I used Dawn to wash it thoroughly so that it wouldn't stain my cape.
