I don't like leaving my belongings unattended where they could be tampered with or taken. Because my motorcycle compartment is so small, I needed something that was both small and dependable. I searched for helmet locks but couldn't find anything that fit my needs. This gun lock is excellent at its job. It tucks neatly away, and I loop it through the rear peg set and the helmet when needed. I know it's not completely secure, but it's certainly preferable to leaving it sitting around or having to carry it around with you all the time.
So I was taken aback when I received mine and discovered how simple the lock was to operate. To lock or unlock the door, simply turn it a quarter turn. It's possible that people are attempting to force it into a half-turn. Someone mentioned that they used it to secure their French doors on the internet. It wasn't long enough for my widest French doors. However, I saved it to use as a border around the knobs on my double front doors. Excellent work. Update: I think I've figured out why people are having trouble with this lock now that I've had it for a couple of weeks. Before turning the key, make sure the end of the cable is completely pushed in. You haven't fully inserted the cable if the key is difficult to turn.
This is ideal for locking the cabinet handles in my classroom so that I can bring personal items into school with me, such as my purse and prescription medication. I ordered a shorter version because I didn't realize the cable wasn't as long as I thought (the part that goes into the lock is included in the length), and while Amazon refunded my money, they didn't require me to return it. I'm not sure what I'll do with the extra short cable, but I'm sure I'll be able to find a use for it.
I bought it because it is California-compliant, which means it should be more difficult to force open. My shotgun fits easily thanks to the 15" cable. I would have given 5 stars if it hadn't been for the fact that I tried the keys that came with the lock that came with one of my other shotguns, and they worked. This lock's keys would not open my other lock, from which the other keys were obtained. I'm not sure what to make of it, except that it appears to be a little too easy to open with any cable lock key.
Last fall, I finally saved up enough money to purchase a decent deer hunting rifle. I drive a couple of hours to my hunting location and transport my rifles using the locks. The one that came with the rifle, the bright yellow ones (at least in NYS), never had the right length or flexibility to fit through the open bolt's ejection port; I couldn't get it to loop upwards, out of the port, without a pair of plyers, and it would rattle around in there as I tried. I didn't like the thought of that metal tip slamming into delicate components or scratching them. To fix the problem, I purchased this lock. It's a significant step forward. br>br> This lock is longer and more flexible than the previous one, but it does not appear to be any less sturdy. I can now thrash the lock in and out without damaging the internals. The original lock might not have been a big deal, but a few dollars for peace of mind on something that costs a lot of money is a good investment.
This is a helmet lock that I use for my motorcycle. I attach it to my passenger peg by looping it through my facemask. It's fantastic! It won't stop someone with a small bolt cutter from stealing my helmet, but it will certainly stop someone with their bare hands. In terms of its primary function as a gun lock, I believe it would perform admirably. It won't be of the highest quality, but it'll suffice!.
I didn't purchase the gun lock in order to secure a firearm. I bought it to use as a door lock for my French door. It's too difficult for me to turn the lock on my door. As a result, I didn't lock the door. This cable gun lock has enough slack to go around both handles. I'll be able to lock the door faster with a little practice.
This is an excellent lock for my chicken coop.
