Questions & Answers
The package appears to be a standard Amazon box. The backpack is protected by a plastic sleeve within the box. There are no markings on the outside of the box that would reveal what's inside.
Yes, carry on, but stow under the seat is a tight squeeze.
The 24L refers to the size of the pack's capacity, which is 24 litres. The pack has an adjustable harness that allows one size to fit most torso lengths thanks to the Velcro adjustment feature for mounting the yoke to the pack! Other capacity sizes are available, but they aren't listed with this product.
Yes, it only comes in one size (12 x 12 x 22 inches). I'm 5'10", and there's plenty of room for someone taller. This pack is ideal for a day trip or an overnight stay. I just returned from a nine-day trip to southern Utah, which met all of my needs.

This pack has been in my possession for about 6 months. It's mostly for fly fishing that I use it for. I usually bring a digital camera, snacks, water, a rain jacket, a headlamp, a GPS, spare batteries, and a few other small items with me. br>br>In terms of space, you should know what you're getting; this isn't a backpacking bag; if that's what you want, you should get something bigger. This is a daypack; it isn't designed to hold a lot of stuff. It does, however, hold everything I need, with plenty of outside attachments to hold a rod tube, hiking poles, or whatever else you need. The two pockets on the waistband aren't large enough to hold a phone, but they're ideal for holding fly boxes. There are two small pockets on the inside of the bag that are useful for keeping small items close at hand. Water bottles fit perfectly in the side pockets. The rain fly that comes with the jacket is stored in the bottom pocket. For a day pack, it's a well-thought-out design. br>br>I have an osprey backpacking pack, and there's a reason I bought another. They are very comfortable. I was fishing with a sling pack, but it didn't work out. So I upgraded to this, and it's no problem to wear it loaded all day. All of the components are extremely adaptable. br>br>I haven't taken this on a plane yet, and I'm not sure how it will travel because it has a large footprint for a small amount of storage space. It takes up a lot of space for what it is, and that is my only complaint. However, this is a minor quibble that is unimportant. br>br> Osprey makes a variety of packs for various activities; don't limit yourself by purchasing this one if you're looking for a pack that focuses on bicycling. If you're looking for a daypack for hiking or other outdoor activities, this is a great option that I'm glad I went with. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: The company is still going strong. It's still one of my favorites. As a fishing backpack, it has firmly established itself in my collection. It's perfect for what I'm looking for. br>br>Second Edit: I've begun hunting with a mobile bow. Outside, a tethrd predator platform, hawk helium sticks, and a tethrd helium stick all fit well with the included straps. All of the archery equipment, including a rangefinder, binoculars, headlamp, and release, fits nicely in it, making long walks in public a breeze.
What I like best is the suspension system, which uses a mesh panel and at least an inch of airspace to keep them off your back. I bought my first Osprey Stratos in a size 34 for winter day hiking, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing. I carried it for several years and it was great; I could take it off and load and unload clothing as needed for temperature and moisture management. Moisture management is important in winter hiking; you don't want to sweat, and you don't want a pack on your back making you sweat! I took it with me on a trip to the Grand Canyon and Yosemite last spring, and it kept me cool and dry on those hot days! I brought it on all of my airline flights as a carry-on, and the only time I had trouble getting through security was when I tried to get through with my water bladder in it. I had drained all the water out, but there was still a film in it, and when it showed up on xray, they went crazy and wanted to tear the bag apart, so I took everything out, including the bladder, and convinced them that was what they were seeing, but on all subsequent flights, I drained, dried (as best as I could), and packed the bladder in my checker luggage. I liked the 34 so much that I bought a 24 to use on days and trips when I didn't need as much space and would benefit from the smaller pack. Many people have complimented the standoff design during my travels, and the Osprey guarantee is unbeatable!.
I purchased this pack because a friend of mine owns an older Stratos 24 that I adore. The issue I had with this pack was that it held a lot more stuff than mine did! The pack was half full when I put in my full 3L Osprey water bladder, which is absurd for a 24L pack. Aside from the bladder, I only had room for a pair of wind pants, a teeny-tiny wind breaker (packs down to the size of a baseball), a first-aid kit, extra socks, and some snacks. This was supposed to be a summer pack, so I decided to make it that way. In the summer, however, I usually bring a hat, gloves, layers, and other items, which I am actually wearing this time of year. If I had wanted to remove a layer, I would not have been able to do so in this pack. And with the main compartment crammed to the brim, the other compartments were barely big enough to fit a map, let alone anything else. I'm not sure how they calculate the size of these packs, but this one cannot possibly be 24L. Perhaps if you calculate the space of each compartment separately with the pack empty, but once the main compartment is full, you won't be able to fit anything else in the other compartments. I'm very dissatisfied with this outcome. I like two other Osprey packs, but this one isn't up to par.
I am a 65-year-old 5'8" man who is required to carry first-aid equipment, which includes an AED device on occasion. As a result, I'm not a big, strong young man. It takes me about 15 minutes to carry my backpack with everything I need. 20lbs. Because of the way it distributes the load, this backpack is fantastic. It distributes the strain to your hips rather than putting it all on your shoulders. I used it on a 6-mile hike on the west rim trail in Zion National Park last week, and I was blown away by how comfortable it was and how little back strain it caused. br>br>This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. br>There are several YouTube videos on how to adjust this back to your size, all of which are extremely helpful.
