Questions & Answers

Approximately how much capacity is there on the line?

While I don't measure what I spooled up, I usually fish with a 40 -lb line The area is 60 feet and there is plenty of space.

How big is the hole that it covers?

If it goes over a 10" hole, it should work.

Are there any plastic liners or is there styrofoam exposed on the bottom of your product?

The ups are a This is a great price
5/5

I bought these in all the colors and variations (yellow, orange, black, yellow and red) for my husband's ice skating. There have been multiple occasions when I have gone fishing! It is an understatement to say that he liked them very much! On his days off, my family spends the majority of our time fishing in Northern Michigan (my father lives out there most of the day from before dark to after dark). As an avid fisherman (in each season) he likes to get out in all kinds of fish in Michigan. However, his favorite season is winter. The false positive issue that others have complained about is not mine to argue about In the past, high wind has caused false flags once and a while, but we've seen it much less than all of our other above ground and other handmade tips-- It is not possible to make the perfect tip- In the case that there was, I would say this would have to be the top, with all the tips In this case, we used the up. In addition, some frabill tipips (not the orange one) have indicator lights that flash when you get a hit on the flag - this was something we liked as well. It doesn't matter if you choose the orange one as long as you don't intend to fish with tip ups into the dark) The pivot system above the line can freeze up if it's too cold. It has nothing to do with design It's a waste of time to dip it into the water and take it out over and over again The weather is only one part of life, and it's only the weather The temperatures get so cold that there is really nothing you can do The program freezes up and has a difficult time performing with a surplus of usage. Not only do I not call the dealer or manufacturer, but I also don't email them. There's no point in denying reality. All we can do is provide a point-of-view Get home and thaw it out on an old towel so that it can warm up and dry out. It isn't a bad idea anyway from time to time - good luck! You've got a lot of new tip ups! Enjoy! This is a great choice that you won't regret! It's a blast to work with Frabil!.

The best way to stay warm in the cold weather- The up-to-date version is available
5/5

There are four of these tip-tops in my collection Initially, I was not satisfied with how I had set up the ups. Instructions on how to use the packaging are not clear. If you wish to set the tool up properly, you must push down the center shaft until the black ring nears the top of the base as shown. I would like to mention another piece of advice that wasn't included If you are setting the flag under a large bait, put the flag under the long flat section for smaller bait, place it under the angled segment. If I put a 6" sucker minnow on the long side, the flag will not trip.

This is not a one-piece mold
3/5

The old style was molded in one solid piece and the new version is foam on the bottom, they do not float. There were many false wind flags this morning when springs came out of the body to activate. Sometimes you want to shake the stupid idiot who designed the new model. I called customer service 4 days ago and was told that a supervisor would resolve the problem but never heard from them. Great character must not be an American, as I emailed the company's CEO but received no response.

Tip of the Day - Over the years, I have tried about 100 different tips It's pretty rare that I have good times in my life, but these are great
5/5

During the cold winter of Wisconsin, I tested these in the north woods and they effectively kept the hole warm enough so that no ice could There have never been any snags or tangles in the reel either, which is great for me With cheaper brands, this can be a serious issue. Flags like these will pop on soft hits, but will not give you false positives when it is hard to see. One other really nice feature to these flags is that the tip-on lid has a small compartment for storing leaders, weights, and other accessories. My next winter shopping trip will probably include a few more of these.

I can't think of anything better! I was not trying to break the bank as it was my first experience with ice fishing
5/5

They also came with a cheap ice auger, an ice ladle, and four of these. In total, I caught about 8 nice bass over the weekend and three northerns. Insulation is one of the nicest features of this rig. The old school skinny ones take up a bit more room, but the new ones keep the whole thing from freezing over, which is extremely important. Shiners are generally good swimmers, but sometimes I have to wait for a false trigger. The following recommendations are highly recommended.

The flags fell off as soon as they were extended due to the low quality, cheap construction
3/5

My loyalty to Frabill's products dates back over 20 years. I own several of their first series pro-ice rods, as well as several of their ice fishing cleats. When I compare the new models I bought from here to those from earlier generations, the new models are absolute garbage If the quality does not improve in the future, I won't purchase any more. The demonstration was designed to have no ice, so do not take it too seriously. There was no need to slide the older models because they worked fine as is. As I was attempting to set the tip of the flag up and extend the flag, the flag pulled out right away. Sorry for the disappointment. For more than a decade, I have not had this issue with the older models I own. Upon turning on the light, the light that comes with the flag does not fit properly in the hole where the light is intended to attach. Here is how to set this tip The shiner and other live bait may be enough to get the angler caught if it is "light" and both are light. As a regular tip- the tips in these do not have a notched setting like every other regular tip I have no idea how to go up. The fact that the brand has quality issues is very disappointing, especially given its reputation.
