Frabill Pro Thermal Original Tip-Up, Multi, One Size (1660)

On more than one occasion, we went fishing! It would be an understatement to say he loved them! I used the old style for years since the top is one solid piece of molded plastic. The new models are plastic on the bottom and the springs come out of the body, so there are many false wind flags and sometimes you wish the idiot who designed this new design was next to A supervisor was going to fix the problem 4 days ago, but I haven't heard back. I called customer service four days ago. The CEO of the company didn't respond to my e-mail. The good character is not I would return to seller, but not their fault as this company has problems with this product. It is a year since last review as the company has never called after many calls I found a different tip up they went cheap, so you get what you pay for.

Insulation is a requirement if you plan on fishing at extremely cold temperatures. Its temperature was just warm enough so that ice never formed in the hole during the frigid winter months of Wisconsin. I tested this in February in the north woods. The reel never gets tangled or snags either - this has never been an issue for me. Cheaper brands have a lot of problems with this. It also has a compartment on the tip where you can store leaders and weights so you can use it to store other accessories. This makes the flag sensitive enough for soft hits, but not yielding false positives when the wind blows hard. In the winter, I'm likely to purchase a few more of these.

A cheap ice auger, a ladle, and four of these I got from a local store. With a steal leader and small to medium treble hook combined with a large shiner, I use 30lb test braid (not the ice fishing sort, as I am cheap and had a big spool left over from regular), and a 30lb braid line. The weekend was a great fishing weekend for me, I caught eight good bass and northern. There is a lot to like about this rig, including its Even though they're a tad bigger than the old school skinny ones, they stop the whole thing from freezing, which is really important. Since over 20 years, I have been an ice fisherman and user of Frabill products, including a number of their first generation pro-type rods My thermal tip ups that I bought over 10 years ago are still in use. I bought new round tip models here, but I can tell you that the quality of these new models is utter garbage compared to earlier generations Unless the quality improves again in the future, I will not be purchasing any more from ups.
This is also true of my tip ups I bought, since most of the other negative things mentioned in reviews are true. It is nearly impossible for the shaft of the spool to slide down into a convenient height and the tip feels as if it is going to break any moment. The slide was actually too hard to slide by pressing too hard. As this was a dry run, it doesn't matter if ice was present. In the past, older models did not need to be slid and worked smoothly. I tried to extend the flag and set up the tip of the flag, but it immediately pulled out. This left me feeling very Over the past decade, I have never had a problem with an older model that I have owned. When the light is on, the tip up light does not fit nicely into the hole in the flag for attachment when the light is For this tip, you can change the following settings It is said that both species are light which might be caught by a live shiner or other live bait.
