Unfortunately, this set is currently unavailable, and I am glad I had acquired a second set of these before they were taken down. The tools in this set are not bad for traditional fly tying. It took a simple paper towel to polish the brass up to a nice shine and the tools work perfectly now. One thing I don't like about the hackle pliers is that they are very stiff (this style is usually stiff). Two sets come with rotary whip finishers (one large one in one set and one smaller one in the other set In the other set is a smaller one). The smaller one is easier for me to use, although the larger one works just as well. In addition, I used the second set to separate the combination threader/cleaner tools into two separate instruments, one from one set was used as a threader and the other to clean the bobbin. Sadly, they did not make up for the weaker elements of The tube entry point of the thread had sharp edges, and one of the ceramic pieces had an edge on the inside. They cut my thread due to their sharp edges. Using some of my glass tying beads and UV glue, I was able to fix the issue. It has to be the scissors that make this set so great! The scissors here are fantastic. I have paid for one set of scissors the same as this whole set, and the scissors in that set don't even come close to these. If these scissors were the only thing in the set, I would buy it again.

The price is very reasonable and it has nothing fancy but it is functional. A set like this costs less than one pair of fancy name brand scissors alone if you are a beginner. Getting started with one of these kits is the best way to get started, so do yourself a favor and get one. At the end of the day you have lots of options, but first you have to decide where to begin. The item photo looks much like the set I used to have in a pouch with elastic to hold the individual tools. There is nothing to keep the tools from falling out when the pouch is opened - it's just an envelope type of thing. Their action was to do so. In this pouch, there is no way to organize the tools.
