The remote cable is used to charge the remote. Before each trip, remember to refuel.
Either. A 110-volt charger is included. If your boat or vehicle has a power converter or USB port, it can also be plugged into that.
I was in the same boat as you. I had to wiggle the wires inside the remote end of the plug to get it to charge because they were broken. I placed an order for a new cable, and they installed it. Now it charges like a dream.

Simply go ahead and purchase it. UPDATE: The cable does not fit snugly inside the remote control. MinnKota's design and connector selection are both poor. I can't charge the remote on the boat because of a loose connection that prevents the remote from charging even if it's bumped slightly. The only thing I can do now is plug it in somewhere it won't be touched, make sure it's charging, and leave it alone. So much for purchasing a spare to keep on board. Original: (br>br>Original: (br>br>Original: (br>br>Orig br>This is one of those items that I did not want to purchase. The quality is satisfactory, but the price is a little excessive for what is essentially a charging cable. In case I misplace or damage the one that came with the trolling motor, I keep one in the boat and one in the house. This is the *only* cable that will charge the iPilot Link remote, and (as far as I know), it will not charge any other device. br>br>I'm not sure why Johnson Outdoors (Minn Kota) designed their remote to be recharged with a proprietary USB cable rather than a standard USB cable. I have a drawer full of USB cables (cash grab). Instead of being able to charge my camera, phone, GPS, and other devices with the same cable, I'm forced to keep track of this one cable that looks like every other cable solely for charging the iPilot remote. I marked it with a red piece of tape to make it easier to find and identify. Minn Kota gets a "F" or a 1-star rating from me. [End Rant]br>br>This cable, on the other hand, is fine, so I'll give it 3 stars grudgingly.
This is the second one in six months; it's a bad design; the copper leads are so thin that even the tiniest amount of salt air causes it to fail. br> Some may consider it insignificant, but when a 5k device depends on it to function, it becomes significant. It's a big deal. A Minn Koda I- would not be purchased by me. link again, this time understanding how the most important parts are omitted in order for it to work. I'd get the foot control model and stick with it. It works great and only cost $1500, not $5,000, and the frustration of putting together an I link without 4 hours of support and needing a $150 add-on item never seems to go away. I'd be willing to lose $1,000 to simplify my fishing experience if someone wanted my set up. You're out of luck if you can't charge your controller.
Connector that is broken. The pin became stuck inside the connector the first time it was used, rendering the connector useless. I despise companies that use unusual connectors that are either poorly made or prone to breaking. Because it's a USB device, connect the other end to another USB device.
It's absurd that this cable costs so much. Humminbird disappointed their customers by using a proprietary connector that does not perform as well as a standard USB connector.
Trolling motor for the pilot. We had forgotten to bring our I-Pod cable with us. While on vacation, pilot a trolling motor. The cable was not available in any of the marine businesses. I found it on Amazon Prime for a reasonable price and free shipping. I purchased two to ensure that there is always one available on the Etheridge boat.
The product works when new, but it fails far too quickly for a cable of this price, so I began looking for another solution, which I found here on Amazon. The ".
The Pilot Remote is in the process of being charged. When a legacy cable is strained or damaged, it won't stay seated properly in the remote control of my Terrova. This is the part you need to replace your broken charging cables. It's simple and effective.
The charging cable for Minn Kota isn't working. There's a lot of slack in the cable where it connects to the remote. To keep the red light charging light on, you must press down on the cable and remote after a short time.
