Mine had also broken. It's held in place by a screw that's molded into the handle (and there's no way to replace it). It's a good concept, but the execution is lacking.
It was a perfect fit for my 07 motorguide. It outperforms the rope by a factor of ten, and I adore it.
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the way that model was designed for its initial release. This is installed on my motor guide x3 and it's fantastic.
Not sure. I'd go to the T-Mobile store. H Marine has information on which trolling motors this will fit on their website.

If you're going to use a trolling motor, make sure it's the right one There would be no need for this if I simply spent an extra $2 on materials and installed something similar. This handle is sturdy, so you won't have to worry about breaking your rods, falling in the water, or having to explain to your fishing partner why you're swearing so loudly when that stupid cotton/nylon rope breaks as soon as you try to stow or deploy your trolling motor. Let me reiterate how inconvenient it is to be forced to purchase something like this because of manf. deciding not to use a good cable on the release so you don't have to remove your trolling motor from the clamp if it breaks while it's deployed Oh, and did I mention it happens every time you need to get that bad boy out of the water? But I have two of these on two different boats, and I grab and pull on them like I'm trying to start an old push mower, and they have never broken or failed me. My recommendation is to buy it now, before you have to deal with the consequences of a rope failure. Your body will thank you because you won't have a sudden spike in blood pressure as you pick yourself up off the boat's deck or floor. Enjoy :.
My original rope broke while I was out on the water, so I tied it back together as a temporary fix. The new included cord is made of stranded metal that is covered in vinyl and does not stretch, making it much easier to deploy and stow the trolling motor. The grip on the handle is also extremely comfortable and grippy. Installing it was a breeze. I would advise anyone to purchase this product.
So much better than a trot line and bloodied hands. If anyone has trouble installing, there's a good YouTube tutorial. As a result of previous mistakes, I pulled the rope all the way out. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> On the second day of the year, I took the boat out for the first time. I bought this around Christmas to get ready for the fishing season, slapped it on, and it worked perfectly the first time. After hours of preparation that day, I got on the water, made 10 casts, and went to change spots when the wire inside the handle broke. I didn't put too much pressure on (at least, that's what I told myself). So now I'm stuck in the middle of the lake, trying to figure out what the hell happened. It's long past time to get this back. br> I'm not sure why it did that, and for an hour yesterday, I was furious with this part. br>br>After doing some more research (which I thought I had done before ordering this), it appears that riding the motorguides gator mount is not a good idea. So it's possible that I made a mistake. It's still a very comfortable handle, which I liked before I used it.
The action is now much smoother and the handle is more comfortable. This accessory will come in handy if you have to pick up and drop your trolling motor frequently. I've had it for a few weeks and it appears to be very durable. The only part of the handle that could be improved is the cover cap, but this is purely decorative and serves no purpose. They might be able to keep it in place where mine was constantly falling out.
After having to replace the standard rope every 6 weeks because it would break at the worst possible time, I installed this on my Minn Kota Fortrex Riptide. Now the rope does not break, and there is no stretch, which is better for my back and arms. br>It was very easy to set up, taking about 15 minutes in total. On YouTube, there are clear step-by-step instructions as well as a number of videos. This is a must-have for trolling motors, and I wish I had ordered it years ago.
It says explicitly that certain trolling motors are not recommended. My old one couldn't possibly be one of them, right? When I tried to connect the wire's plain end to the release on my Motorguide Pro 4300, I discovered this right away. I set about improvising a means of attachment because I was desperate to use the good grip handle and the wire's serviceability. I modified the wire wound end of a small bungie cord to fit the project. T-Connections could provide a similar type of connection that is better made. H Marine and I are hoping they will be able to attend. So far, my setup has worked well, and I appreciate the convenience of having a full hand handle.
The Motorguide Gator Mount is not compatible with this accessory. You'll need a 3 foot length of Dyneema cord to get started. Also, this cable is more flexible.
It's something I wish I'd done years ago. It arrived in two days and took no more than 15 minutes to set up. br>It also appears to be quite appealing!.
