Selected User Reviews For Newport Vessels Kayak Series 36lb/55lb Thrust Transom Mounted Saltwater Electric Trolling Motor w/LED Battery Indicator (24" Shaft)

36lb vs
5/5

55lb. For those curious about the speed difference, I tested both Kayak Series motors on the same boat (12 foot Tango Skiff) on the same day with the same battery (65AH LiFePO4 battery, operating at 13. 0 mph). 5V). The boat, motor, battery, gear, and two passengers weighed a combined total of about 2,000 pounds. 500 lbs. With a 36lb motor, the top speed reached 3. 5mph. With a 55-pound motor, the top speed was four miles per hour. 3mph. That may not appear to be a significant difference, but it was. In practice, I can keep up with most recreational kayakers with the 36lb motor, but with the 55lb, I fly past them. The 36 had a top speed of 29 amps and the 55 had a top speed of 43 amps. Here's what you need to know: 36 pound - Speed 1 - 1 mph, 2nd gear - Speed 3 (four miles per hour) - 7 mph, 4th gear - 9 mph, 5th gear - 55lb - 5mph - 5mph - 5mph - 5mph - 5mph - 5mph - Speed 1 - 0 mph, 2nd gear - 5 mph, 3rd gear - 0 mph, 4 mph - 4 mph, 5 mph - 3mph.

Feefree Kayak has a simple installation process
5/5

This was purchased for my 13-year-old son. The FeelFree Lure kayak has a rating of five out of five stars. It performs admirably. All you have to do is turn the head so that the handle is parallel to the propeller. It will slide through the opening in the sonar pod and tighten up around the rim fairly well. On the rim, it doesn't have to be super tight. The propeller will need to be vertical when putting it through the opening and taking it out, but I put it in and took it out a few times on the trip without any problems. Because it is in the middle of the boat, it does not turn the kayak very quickly, so you will need a rudder. Only the first two speeds are used by me. Water splashes up through the sonar pod opening at an excessively fast rate. Fast, sharp turns will still necessitate the use of a paddle. I left it out for about three hours and it was still going strong. I stowed the battery in the dry storage compartment in the front of the vehicle.

This is an excellent trolling motor for a kayak
5/5

This trolling motor is truly incredible. I have a 12-foot tandem sit-on-top kayak that I built myself, and it works perfectly. My wife and I fished and motored around the lake for 5 hours the first time we went out. I connected it to a 100 amp hour battery, and my kayak now looks like a motor boat skimming across the water on the forward 5 setting, and a fish prowler on the forward 1 setting. This product meets and exceeds all of my expectations. There is no way to go wrong with this.

For a kayak, this is an excellent trolling motor
5/5

Review from the past: br>I purchased this trolling motor for my Field of Dreams. I really liked the Stream Shadowcaster 123 kayak, but it was a little too heavy for mounting to the side of the kayak, so I returned it and went with a more established transom mount solution instead. I wish I had purchased this motor instead of the Watersnake brand for my canoe because it does not require the shaft to be cut. Although it may seem insignificant, I appreciate that this motor is available in grey, despite the fact that it is saltwater rated (which is typically white). New Review: br>br> br>Okay, so my original kayak trolling motor died prematurely, so instead of wasting time and money returning it for warranty service, I decided to replace it with this Newport Vessels NV Series motor. As you can see in the photos, I heavily modified it for my kayak mount (which means the warranty is no longer valid). It's incredibly quiet and quick; on my first test run, I fished for 5 hours and covered about 4 miles, with the last two miles being at full speed back to the launch. I have two small 35AH batteries connected in parallel and had 70% charge left when I got home and put the batteries on a charger, so this motor is really light on the juice. The batteries are stored in the bow compartment (which is why I chose two small ones instead of one large one), which helps to balance the weight. I did add the Bullnose Rudder to it, and it makes a significant difference in terms of tracking and turning. When you're just drifting, you can also use it as a rudder to provide some steering. Exceptional engine. It performs admirably and is pleasing to the eye. I'm going to get the same motor for my canoe and get the 36-inch paddle. For other smaller kayaks, there is a pound version.

For a low price, you can get a saltwater rated motor
5/5

For the money, this is a fantastic motor. That short clip shows my mother and me being pushed in a 13-foot sit-on-top kayak by a motor on the third power setting. It pushed us to around 5 mph on the highest power setting. Also, I'm using a small battery (30 amp hours), and we still had full bars after an hour of driving. Very nice; I'm looking forward to completing my foot-controlled setup so I can go on all-day kayak trips with ease. br>br>As a side note, I live in Georgia, and if you put this on a kayak or canoe, you MUST register it.

A thorough examination
5/5

My review compares this to a different brand of 30lb thrust trolling motor that it replaced. br>br>Old motors had a circle-shaped battery connector that required you to completely remove the nut in order to hook or unhook the battery. A prong on the Newport fits under the nut. It is not necessary to remove the nut (which may have been dropped in tall weeds). It's a small feature, but it's clever. br>br>Old motor has only one reverse speed and does not do anything. There are three different reverse speeds available in Newport. The boat is actually moved by it. One more advantage. br>br>The pull out handle on the old motor is sloppy and loose, whereas on the newport it is solid and feels good. br>br>The tilt feature on the newport is better, as it is a lever rather than a pushbutton on the old motor. It's difficult to find a pushbutton, and it's inconvenient to use. Thrust is more than adequate. br>br> I have a pontoon made up of two 12 foot diablo stand up kayaks. There are two people on board and two iced cooler chests. It left behind an 11-foot john boat with one person and one cooler. My old 30 pound thrust motor was in the john boat. Motor appeared to be quieter. br>br> I was under the impression that the newport motor was slower than the older one. It became clear that my ears were judging the speed after I left the john boat behind. The only thing I don't like about it is that the battery gauge (5 led bars) does not turn on or off. It probably doesn't use much power, but because the leds stay on when I fish in the morning and evening, I disconnect the battery during shore time. That's all I have to say about it. Because I haven't read the instructions completely, it's possible that it turns off and I haven't discovered the solution. br>br>The color and style are both appealing. The color gray, as if it were the color of a battleship. Rather than the usual white or black, this is a nice change of pace.
