Mono leader line may have surprised me. I have been using fluoro braid for all my leader lines except those used for bottom fishing, but this makes me rethink my decision to use fluoro braid. To make dropper loop rigs for bottom fishing, I bought a 50 lbs version of this line. As soon as I touched this line, I realized that it was different from any other mono I had used before. The 200lb size is what I use as a shock leader when fishing for sharks. In order to date, it has passed through the mouth of a Sand Tiger Shark that stands 10+ feet tall and several brown sharks that are as large as 10+ feet. The leader I was using was regular heavy mono, which was not ideal for surf fishing. Since the regular mono was easily tangled around the weights, it resulted in less catches and fraying of the line to rub Unfortunately, I almost lost a small shark luckily, I managed to land it and remove the hook before it was released. My solution was to get a crimper and make my own leaders from actual In spite of the mono being more rigid, I haven't experienced any problems with leaders getting tangled since switching to it. I prefer the durability and strength of Kastking Durablend leaders to any other type. I've used this leader in fresh and salt water and it's never let me down! My third channel broke just above the hook when I was raising it in the boat. According to the examination of the line, the abrasive teeth of the channel cat caused abnormal wear of it. I tied the 50 lb durablend leader I attached to this review, and I used it on the water for a full day. In the last 6 months this leader has landed approximately 10 stripers, 10 bluefish, and 2 albacore without any issues whatsoever. While it is probably OK to use it again, I will replace it next time I go outside even though it didn't need to be replaced all day. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who is deciding whether or not to purchase it. It's an excellent deal If we compare apples to apples with pure fluorocarbon, they have quite a bit of stretch, but otherwise are pretty much the same I can think of no application in which this type of mesh would not disappear completely in water and be extremely tough, the very little bit of stretch being negligible and ultimately insignificant. I will use this from now on for my leaders because it ties a very sturdy knot and holds strongly.
