br>I'm attempting to tie it up with braided line as a leader, and after each perfect uni- I don't have to tie anything; all I have to do is apply normal pressure to both main lines, and this junk breaks instantly and with little effort. br>I'm guessing the braided line is slicing through it, but that's a total B. Because I hardly put any pressure on it and it snaps right away. So, I'm not sure if this is a problem or not. However, it will not "knot" to 20lb braided line without breaking after a simple light pull on both ends to test the knot.
I started using braided line with a fluorocarbon leader this summer, but I was still having problems with the leader wearing out too quickly. Because I primarily drift bait in rivers in search of big browns, my line gets a lot of wear and tear on the rocks. Overall, I'm pleased with this line, though there are a few things that could be improved, such as the inclusion of a soft rubber-like material. Although the plastic sheath leaves a lot to be desired, it worked out well in terms of performance. I used Seaguar's 8 InvisX as my last leader, and I didn't notice any difference in the number of fish I caught.
To save money, many anglers use regular fishing line instead of leader. For the most part, this is a bad idea. This leader is a lot tougher than the previous one. It works great, and I don't have to cut the end off nearly as often as I used to. I start with about 15 feet after trolling every day for a few months for trout. When I find a fray or nick, I have to cut off six inches every few days. As a result, I only change the leader once or twice per season.
It's a 12 pounder rather than a 4 pounder. This is the tippet I use when fly fishing. This line works well for me because I primarily target bass, who aren't afraid of leaders. With this line as my tippet, I've caught three fish over 16 inches. On my 4 weight, it easily removes snags from leaves and small weeds without snapping the line. It's a simple knot. It's the first thing I think of when I'm looking for something to eat When I switch to 4 pound test, I notice that I get more bites from pan fish.
This is a fantastic line. For saltwater fishing, this is an excellent tippet. Steelhead, brown trout, and salmon can all be caught with this. The only fishing I do with this line is spey fishing with a two-handed fly rod.
I must have gotten a bad spool of Seguar because any fish over 2 lbs would cause it to break at random spots. My tangles stayed in place every time.
This is a good flourocarbon option. I've tried a few seaguar products, and this one is the best value for money. I've been using it for a few weeks and am pleased with the results. If anything changes in the next six months, I will update my review.
Fluro is a good choice for salmon fishing in general. Some spools are superior to others in my experience. It's also crucial to avoid unnecessary twists when spooling your line.
