A minor modification to the piece should not effect the rod once correctly installed and a " close" to original fitting piece should not adversely affect the casting or fighting of fish.

To attach the new rod tip, you should also purchase a small (red) tube of rod tip glue, as I do NOT recommend superglue for this task.

Otherwise, it was exactly as described. I measured my rod tip with calipers before ordering, and the set came with an assortment of close sizes so I could test them out. Purchasing again would be a good idea, but I hope my tips remain intact so that I do not have to do so again.
