Questions & Answers

What are the chances of destroying this target with a throwing axe / tomahawk?

A successful throw on the first attempt

Do you think that this would work on a 150 lb ?

My opinion is that this is not the case. A 35-pound pistol would be the right weight for me to use. At about 60 feet, I can put the arrows about half way into the target with the recurve. Crossbows will be too powerful for you, I think. Kids and teens are more likely to be interested in this target.

Does this arrow fall over when it hits the ground when it is aimed with an arrow heavy enough to not fall over when carried for a distance?

There is no need to store it if you are carrying it. Arrows have been used to knock it over a few times. Stabilizing it with a cardboard box is usually the way we do The fact that it has targets on every side and seems to hold up well is a plus for us.

Can the backside of the block be used as a target?

The same is true on the front as well.

Selected User Reviews For Mckenzie 20950 TuffBlock Game Shot Archery Target

It is ideal for the purpose it is intended for - ARROWS WITH ROUNDED TIPS AND BOWS FOR KIDS
5/5

I suspect that all those who have reviewed it negatively are not using it in the right way. The following is a detailed description of the product so that you can buy it for the right reason when you are considering buying it. A 2'X2' surface is found on the front and about a 1' depth is found on the back. The packaging is made of two layers of Styrofoam enclosed in a sealed pouch It consists of a heavy plastic cover (like the plastic on a good ziplock bag with a target). The label clearly states that it is not intended for bows with a draw weight greater than 40 lb. Those arrows have rounded tips for kids, and I think they are intended for kids. Practice arrows with regular archery tips will not gain you any points. You are most definitely not supposed to use broadheads for this either. There are a few things to expect when you're shooting. A round tip arrow will hit the target where you want it to, provided you sight it well and practice a lot. The arrow rests are simply elevated using colored headed pins taped above the arrow rests of the youth archery set I use it for. Don't expect your styrofoam target to resemble the place where Robin Hood placed his arrows when you use an arrow with a round tip. There is a good chance that some of the arrows that are in the target will deflect through the media which will create varying angles. The answer may not matter to you. However, I am simply saying do not expect the arrows to react to the target as they would if it was a much more expensive target designed for high bow weight and practice or broadheads. A styrofoam target will behave differently at lower velocity when sticking to points with rounded ends. I would say you can expect this to last for a few hundred shots, depending on how often you use it. Approximately $20 was the price, according to my memory. Putting this together, $20 for a few hundred shots is a pretty good deal from my experience of buying targets for both archery and guns. This and a Bear Archery First Shot Youth Bow Set are on my shopping list for my nieces and nephews to be introduced to archery when they reach the age of 5 I think it's okay to use this My office is a good place for me to shoot the target at 15 feet if I feel cabin fever coming on. While I read reviews before I purchased this, I was amazed at how many reviews mentioned that they had purchased something different from what they had anticipated. The goal of this review is to give a little insight into the right expectations.

This target has some quirks but is a great target
4/5

It is a target that I purchased to use with my 20lb recurve bow for and with My shooting area is not far from my garage, so it is very easy to carry the target to it and to keep it tucked back there when I am finished. It is nevertheless important to keep a few things There is a large block of Styrofoam behind this target. The softness makes it light, which makes it easy for low power bows to sink an arrow into it. However, when the arrow hits the foam, it flies all around the target. Make sure it's blocked off on the sides and back so that you don't have to move your camera ever so often to get the shot you want. When you place a few arrows in it, it will be pretty clear. I pulled out an arrow and was just able to pull out a tiny piece of Styrofoam with it since it is made of Styrofoam. This is just a piece of plastic, so there is nothing fancy about it. The next time I need to replace the target won't be too long from now. I am going to have to replace targets more and more often as the activity that my family and I enjoy becomes more and more expensive. A lot of targets for higher-power bows are available that are more durable and feature self-healing cases for about the same price as this one. The price range would be nice if there was something of that style available. The target is a good one, overall, and I agreed with it.

A surprising amount of weight for something so The first time USPS dropped off the box containing this target, I thought that they had sent me the wrong thing or that I had messed up
4/5

The box felt empty to me and I kind of groaned, because I expected to find an empty printed target bag inside, you know, which I could then fill up. I suppose that also explains why the price is low. In any case, the target was usable and was filled with styrofoam in the shape of a large dense block. My first reaction was to laugh and mentally give it a week before it broke apart.
Well, I've put about 100 arrows into it so far (50lb compound with field tips) and it looks like a brand new bow. The holes in the bow clearly accumulate, but 15 yards away, the bow is still fully stopping arrows.

Edit for My rating has gone down a little after 200 arrows have been shot into the target. of the bullseye is becoming quite soft - my arrows penetrate almost as far as the fletching round the bullseye now. My arrows are still going around the target's perimeter, but before 300 I expect that they will pass completely through the goal, so I might need a backstop to protect it. I have recently noticed more styrofoam crumbs on the back and front of the target because of degradation. There is a method of restoring the target that I am thinking of trying, and I will make a final change to this review if I can. A construction foam might be used (Great Stuff - Insulator sprays) that can restore some integrity to the core.
I'm of the opinion that this is a decent target for casual archery, but I wouldn't recommend it This bag will not last long, so it is best to buy a more durable one. The pros are The price range is very good the product is light and easy to transport the colors are clear and the material is gentle on the arrow shafts, so far I have not seen a smudge of paint on them. The cons are You will occasionally have to clean up a few styrofoam crumbs after pulling out the arrows. It might bother some, but not many. • I can tell that the center of the arrow over time will begin to sag, but probably not for several hundred more shots. The self-centered nature of the system isn't as clear as it might seem As well as the heavy plastic targets, you have to repair the heavy bags. The cauldron is very light weight, so you will need to attach a backstop so you won't have to worry about your arrows knocking it around. In my case, I place a metal stake in the ground right behind the target and that is enough resistance to keep it from tipping over. It'll be interesting to see how long this bargain target lasts, but I'm having fun with it. My initial response is that I'm not too happy about eventually discarding a giant block of styrofoam, but have no plans to move on.
