Questions & Answers

Is this a three-bladed sword or a two-bladed sword?

This is a set of three true flying blades, each of which is razor sharp.

Do you think they're good for crossbows, according to NAP?

A broadhead doesn't care if it's on a bolt or an arrow; both can travel at 330 fps, and arrows have more kinetic energy.

Which is correct: the description says 6pc, but the "title" or "header" at the top says 5pc?

With this Broadhead, there is never a failure
5/5

Elk, bear, caribou, sheep, and other large-bodied animals (elk, bear, caribou, sheep, etc. ) are examples of large-bodied animals. ) The only broadhead I use is a fixed one. When it comes to large animals, expandable broadheads are prone to failure. I've been using Thunderhead 100gr broadheads for at least 30yrs with almost 100% success on elk for at least 30yrs with almost 100% success on elk for deer. I don't expect to see a deer any time soon. Every year I get a shot at an elk, but almost every time the arrow passes through the target, the blade never comes out, bends, or breaks. br>br>Normally, I buy three packs, but it's nice to see there are five this time. These broadheads fly almost perfectly straight as well. I've had arrows that weren't perfectly straight or balanced, but these broadheads have never been the cause of poor arrow flight. br>br>For the money and the convenience of having a one-stop shop, This blade has a cutting diameter of 3/16" and is ideal for hunting.

There is no blood trail, and it has a hard time dealing with bone
3/5

I purchased these heads a few months ago and have put in a lot of practice time with them. They were accurate out to 30 yards, which is the maximum distance I feel comfortable shooting in a hunting situation. They seemed like they'd be a good hunting companion. WELL, as I discovered 2 days ago to my dismay, these heads leave no blood trail. I shot a doe from about 8 yards away from my stand. There was no pass through and no arrow to be found, so I must have struck a shoulder. She bleated, half-knelt down, then dashed 10 yards, paused for about 10 seconds, and dashed away, never to be seen again. I looked for five hours and didn't find a single drop of blood. Deer suffered a significant setback as a result of my disappointment. Next time, I'm going to use a mechanical blade like Swhacker or Rage Hypodermic and pass on these blades. I'll probably use them for rabbit hunting, but not for deer hunting.

Before you can use it, you'll need to buy something else
4/5

*Perhaps, see below for a more up-to-date review. If you want to use these on carbon arrows or arrows with small diameter aluminum shafts, you'll need to buy the UBARs (universal broadband adapter rings), which are $8-$10. They cost $9 extra and are not included in the price. Given that it is on the back of the packaging and that the majority of purchases will be used for carbon arrows, it should be mentioned in the Amazon description. br>**UPDATE*
I spoke with NAP, and they informed me that the gold colored washers that were provided were the new UBARs. Unfortunately, when fully installed on my Carbon Express, they do not hold the blades firmly in place. They told me they have some older UBARs and will send them to me. I used Predator 6075 (350) arrows with the Carbon Express 1 inserts that came with those arrows.

The rings are not properly seated
3/5

So, with the exception of the o-, everything about these was excellent. rings. They're a tad thicker and a tad wider than they ought to be. When I tightened them down, it was because of this. the O- The blades become loose and fall out on impact as the ring slides over the insert; I tried every ring and they all fit the same. I borrowed a pair of o-shoes from one of my friends. I put the ring on my thunderheads and it fit perfectly. I also make use of my o- ring on his thunderheads, and he was having the same issue. The ring was slid over his insert by the ring. Now I'm on the lookout for o- rings to be properly fitted I'm not happy.

I can't seem to get the hang of flying
3/5

Purchased to replace an older model with the same blades. They do, however, shoot slightly to the left of their target. At 20 yards, it's a whopping 8 inches! There was no difference when I tried different shaft and head combinations. I have no idea what the issue is, so I can't help you. If they flew straight, they'd be extremely valuable.

The explosion was razor-sharp and catastrophic
3/5

It was a nightmare. One of them blew up, scattering razor blades all over the kitchen. They were also inconsistent and flew poorly. The only saving grace is that DEEEPPP has been penetrated. Unfortunately, penetration is useless if you don't hit your target. I'm not sure why these are referred to as "old reliable" when there are so many better alternatives.

The Best Broadheads on the Market
5/5

Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, I used to photograph thunderheads. With them, I've always had great luck. With the exception of the occasional bent, nicked, or broken blade that needs to be replaced, these blades have performed admirably. Then I became aware of the mechanical broadhead craze. I substituted spitfires for my trusted thunderheads. I shot the spitfires before switching to a different brand, which I can't recall. The rage broadheads snatched me up in 2009, and I snatched them up as well. They flew beautifully due to their small size and design, and they performed admirably in pleasant weather. Then, in January of 2010, my rage heads froze up and refused to open on contact with a nice late-season buck. At the start of the 2011 bow season, I went back to my old faithful thunderheads. I've had the most incredible season of my life! Each of the five bowkills has a complete pass through. The broadheads were fine and undamaged after breaking two carbon arrows. They flew very well out of my bow, which was set at 63 yards out to 40 yards (which is the maximum distance I will shoot at). Thunderstorms give me complete confidence that they will not let me down. br>br>I purchased them on Amazon and received a $10 rebate form from the NAP website, resulting in a total cost of $22 after rebate. I highly recommend the Thunderhead broadheads because they are a great broadhead at an excellent price. 5 out of 5.

Thunderstorms are capable of accomplishing their objectives. For the past 15 years, I have been photographing them. There will be no failures or failures to open. Thunderstorms will cover you if you miss a shot.
