There is no way to remove the hood because it lacks a pocket.

Is a smart phone going to fit in the chest pocket?

I took a measurement of the space between my breasts. It's a nice stretchy fabric with a curved side that can easily fit a 4" x 7" phone.

The fit is exactly what you would expect. I bought a large because I'm 5'8", 140 pounds, and have a 38DD chest; there's plenty of room to layer underneath the vest in colder weather, and the fit isn't boxy. I've been looking for a vest with an attached hood that isn't too bulky or in the way when not in use, and this one is perfect. I also like that I can close the bottom with a drawstring or use a reverse zipper from the bottom. The fabric has a tight weave and plenty of body. Don't hesitate to purchase. You will not be dissatisfied with this purchase.

The vest is an excellent layering piece that can be worn under a jacket or over a sweater. The fit is perfect, and the fabric and sewing are top-notch. I liked it so much that I ordered another.
