Questions & Answers

Is it safe to use them in a hot tub, or does the water get too hot?

In a hot tub, they'd be fine. You would melt as well if your hot tub was hot enough to melt them.

How much resistance does each weight have on the medium pair?

The resistance value is a mystery to me. At a YMCA aquatics class, I first encountered these dumbells. I suppose you could go to a YMCA and inquire about the resistance, or you could contact the manufacturer, Thera-Fit. 1-piece band 800- 321- Call them at (212) 213-3535 and inquire.

What is the width of the foam from the end to the point where the handhold is located? (Not the foam's actual diameter)?

The number five is the tiniest. It only just keeps me upright, but it does the job. It is simple to work with. It is not necessary to be physically strong. I've used the medium weight and find it to be ideal for a good swim workout. I don't believe the small one will be able to develop any strength. I believe I would be unable to handle the large. I had to change to the smaller one because I have bursitis. I prefer the middle size, and I hope this information is useful to you in making your decision.

It was only for a short time
3/5

It was only a matter of time. In April of 2017, I purchased this set as well as the green, smaller ones. We couldn't use these until the end of June, when the water was warm enough, because our pool isn't heated. We used them for about 4 months and kept them in a plastic box in the shade. This year, I took them out, and the story was the same. It's now the middle of the week. They've been out for two months this year, and when not in use, they're stored in the shade. They were used for approximately three years. 4 times per week for an hour (that's generous; it was usually closer to 30 minutes). So. approx. They are crumbling and shredding after 6 months of use, less than 100 hours of use, and storage in the shade, leaving white debris in our pool. A white powder and white crumbs fall from our hands as soon as we pick them up. What about a one-person show? What do you think of the star system? They worked well for a while, but now we need to find something that won't decompose in such a short period of time. Perhaps the distributor sent us some that had been sitting in a warehouse for an extended period of time. Phooey!.

I'm getting rid of the second set of TeraBand Water Weights because they're falling apart
3/5

They won't last more than a few years before falling apart; I assumed the first set crumbled due to sun exposure, so I made sure the second set I bought was kept out of direct sunlight. It didn't seem to matter. If I use them, the pool will be littered with small pieces of foam plastic. I'm on the lookout for a long-lasting product.

The quality of the product is extremely poor
3/5

Misaligned. Be cautious, as these aren't genuine. Foam rings aren't perfectly round, and they appear to have been hand-cut with a jigsaw recently. Each of the foam rings and Thera-Band have small pieces for foam flaking. Disks with the band's (red) logo appear to have been hand-cut and fabricated as well. I'm also the proud owner of a Thera- The quality of the Band Kickroller is noticeably better when purchased from a different supplier (not Vesalius Health). Please note that I've never felt compelled to leave negative feedback (or any feedback at all), but this is an egregious waste of my hard-earned money. Don't be fooled by what you see.

This is ideal for a pool arm day
5/5

The light and medium sizes of these weights were used in water aerobics at a local community pool when I first started. I eventually grew tired of them and decided to purchase my own heavy set. They are my favorite. Because the classes they have aren't "heavy" enough, I now bring them to my LA Fitness water exercise classes. In contrast to one of the reviews on this site, they do not absorb any water. After class, I simply wipe them down and toss them in the back seat of my car. I wouldn't recommend going straight to the heavy weights unless you've worked with the lighter ones first.

You'll have rockin' arms if you use a lot of resistance! I'm in my late 30s, and I've been going to swim aerobics classes since I was a kid
5/5

I've been working out in the water twice a week for a little over a year (minus a few months due to COVID), and I've found that it consistently relieves discomfort and/or pain in my upper/lower back. br>TheraBand dumbbells have always been available at our gym; However, it wasn't until much later that I realized they were of a light/medium 'weight. ' I chose this brand because I know they'll last a long time, and even though I'm small (5'4", 110 lbs), I needed more resistance for arm workouts, and these 'heavy' dark blue waterweights are perfect! I'm already feeling the buffer. Friends, have a good time! br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I can now see a noticeable difference in the way my arms, shoulders, and upper back look, as well as how much more I can do with the heavier resistance, three months later. As a part-time lifeguard this summer, I believe that these water weights are also assisting me in catching up to all the teenagers who have natural swimming strength.

These are fantastic! I used to have a pair, but I gave them away last year
5/5

I bought a less expensive set that came with a lot of extras, but I was extremely dissatisfied. I had to return it, so I went out and bought some more. They're fantastic and of excellent quality. The price appears to be reasonable. It's what I use for my aquatic aerobics workouts, and it's up to the task. AVOID CHEAP BRAND NAME NUMBER NUMBER NUM It's a good investment to get this one.

Wet all the time! They work fine, but the strange foam stuff absorbs water that won't go away, so when I put them in the trunk of my car, they're soaked
3/5

Everything soaks up the moisture. It stays wet for a long time. My shoulder pain is aggravated by the medium weight, but the light weight ones appear to be perfect. I won't be purchasing these again; instead, I'll opt for the waterproof varieties.

Water weights are fantastic, and there is very little risk of injury
5/5

I did some research and spoke with a number of water aerobic instructors before purchasing these. For water aerobics, these types of bells appear to cause the least amount of injury. I wanted the cool-looking ones that would fit better in my bag, but they have been linked to rotater shoulder injuries. Yikes! These are large and heavy, but they are extremely effective. They're fantastic, especially for beginners. They're also a lot more enjoyable to work out with. I bought some for my mother, and with a little practice, she will be able to walk up the stairs once more!.
