The XS is the one I recommend. Last year, I bought these for my daughter in a size Small when she turned 7 and they were in a size Small. The size she wore was very good for her because she is very thin. We bought these shorts in two colors because she loved them.

Product is well-made. It has a built-in panty and is light weight. When my daughter sits, you can sometimes see up her legs, being as the waist fits as expected, but the legs are quite wide. It's good for comfort and mobility, but you can see up her legs sometimes. The two we purchased are well liked by her, so we bought.

It is reasonable in price and decent in I would describe them as a little polyester, but my daughter liked I expected them to be longer, but they're shorter. It wasn't even noticeable they were there. My daughter wore them under her softball jersey.
