Questions & Answers
Yes, two different intervals can be set. For instance, I have mine set to run for 30 seconds, then a two-second warning beep, followed by another 30 seconds. You can have it repeat this for up to 99 reps, I believe.
This isn't an app, so don't expect it to work. This is a timer that you carry around with you like a pager and beeps at the intervals you specify. So, since this isn't connected to your phone, you could listen to your app while using this.
It does not include a battery, to be sure. Only one AAA is required.
The timer simply clips onto the wrist or arm band; however, if you want a more secure connection, the Gymboss Watchstrap is recommended. It was created with runners in mind, and it allows you to wear the timer on your wrist like a watch. It is extremely snug and secure.

The timer itself functions properly. It comes with a number of useful features and is simple to install. With or without a battery, the battery cover does not clip in flat, but this is minor. The clip is strong enough to stay attached to a waistband, shirt, or bra strap for an extended period of time. br>The accessories were my primary concern. The "skin" serves no purpose at all - super- It's too small and doesn't fit well. A latex balloon, in my opinion, is much more durable than this material. It ripped right along the seam as I was barely attempting to pull it on. Really? This is supposed to be a sport shirt, but the skin can't even handle being stretched around the product it's supposed to fit? The other velcro wrist and upper arm straps are extremely scratchy and inconvenient. If I had to do it all over again, I would either purchase a different product or forego the accessories pack entirely.
I purchased the Gymboss accessories package because I wanted the "skin" to protect the device from being dropped on a tile floor, rain, and other elements. br>br>However, I ripped the thin silicone "skin" while trying to remove the wrinkles. Take a look at the two images below. one, with my fingers holding open the ripped area for inspection. br>br>The rest of the accessories in the package were items I wasn't sure I'd use, so this was a major letdown.
Aside from the stiff buttons, it's a good product, but the accessories are terrible. They marked up the accessory pack 53% from the individual unit and the only functional item is the lanyard which’t slide smoothly into the anchor hole . The two straps do not have any hardware to connect and stabilize the unit; you simply put the strap on and clip the unit to the strap — not very snug and not suitable for runners. The skin was sealed together during the forming process, and it appears to be a flaw. I was unable to use it. br>br>If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy the unit without the accessory pack because it's a waste of $9.
The interface is simple to use. Not even close to being waterproof! I'd keep it if it was the only interval timer available. There are, thankfully, other options available. The timer has some very basic but non-essential features. The interface is simple to use. You can only specify up to two intervals, and they can be repeated as many times as you want. It isn't water resistant. This is critical, particularly in Florida. My review and decision to return it were based on the product's basic functionality (which was not well described in the product description) and the fact that it was not waterproof.
The fact that the advertisement claims you can set two intervals is my'show-stopper' complaint. Unfortunately, the two must always be used in that order, as if they were intended to be used for an active and a rest interval. You can't just complete 10 reps of Interval 1 and then move on to Interval 2. And reprogramming the device for a different interval necessitates quite a bit of button-pushing. Pressing that appears to be a frustrating and unwelcome interruption in a workout routine. br>br>However, I'm not sure what I'm missing. The 'user interface,' as others have pointed out, is not particularly user-friendly.
Instead, I purchased two of these guys, one of which I set to beep at my time intervals per kilometer so that I can keep track of my pace, and the other of which I use as a stop watch. My navigator can easily set the arm bands because they work well. My gator can yell out pace times because time is easy to read on the cross country course.
The Gymboss is available at a great price. This was purchased to aid in interval training with both running and kettlebells. I had the free app on my phone, but I prefer not to exercise with it. This is similar to wearing a watch in that you don't realize it's there until you hear the beep or feel the vibrations. It's a fantastic product at an even better price.
Take advantage of the cover. Sweat will corrode the circuit board, and the display will begin to go out if you don't use the cover. I was able to recover the majority of it by disassembling it and cleaning the salt corrosion, but any warranty will be voided as a result. It should be like that. I repair electronics, so I was aware of this, and I received this as a gift because I already own the Jeff Galloway edition, which has worked flawlessly for me for the past eight months.
