I'm not sure what size I'd get for a 12-year-old. ?

I'm not sure what your son's size is, but I'm 6' 3" and weigh 215 pounds. I'm wearing a medium (base) because I have a 36' waist. (plate) large. Also, I love the long tail because I don't have to worry about my shirt untucking!

Is it necessary to order a chest protector in a larger size?

When it comes to chest protectors, you should size up. For the field, I wear a large shirt, with an XL to fit the chest protector behind the plate. br>I recommend going to a sporting goods store and trying on shirts with and without chest protectors. Because many softball umpires wear a slimmer chest protector, you might be able to get away with wearing one size shirt.

At the very least, I'm looking good while the fans mock me! You won't be a better umpire because of the shirt, but you'll look great on the field! This shirt is of excellent quality and will withstand the Texas heat for many seasons

The shirt is nice and wrinkle-free, but the polyester is extremely hot! Wear a V-neck tee that is made of cotton. neck T- underneath the shirt!.

Except for the arms, it fits everywhere

The sleeves are cuffed and end at the elbows. Sleeves are unusually long in comparison to the rest of the garment. We'll have to make do with what we've got because no one else is selling pink umpire shirts.

These tees are a little on the big side. I had to exchange an XXL for an XL after ordering an XXL. This shirt appears to be well-made, with a great color.
