The shrinkage is due to the fact that they have been washed. As they wash, they get approx. 2 inches shorter and tighter in the waist. I've tried different wash cycles on a number of pairs. **END OF UPDATE*** So when wearing these, please take care of your feet by rinsing with cool water, air drying, or by storing in the freezer. This keeps them close to original size, although there is still a teeny bit of shrinkage.
