As my daughter wears a size 14/16, the xl was too big for her. A large was still big enough to fit underneath a sweatshirt when I returned it for a medium.

Size 8 youth small fits the average person. An average size 6 shoe is small. Size 7 is the perfect fit for my daughter which is a youth small.
