The ones I order are semi-automated. With the rubber, it's a more relaxed fit. It's made up of two thin rubber strips. one on the top and one on the bottom of the waistband, with Rawlings written on the fabric in between.

When my son wore these, he was wearing Youth husky jeans, which were probably a size 29 or 30. These are a great pair of pants for boys with a bigger waist who don't wear their pants straight up and down.

It was the perfect fit for my ten-year-old. He's 5'10" and 120 pounds, with a muscular build that makes him look older than he is. The Nike Swingman XL were perfect for him last year, but they're now a little tight in the waist, and the men's small is way too big. This is a fantastic option for children who are in the in-home care system. between the sizes of a child and a man I'm not sure about the long-term viability at this point. I was overjoyed to discover a pair that fit so well. The material is similar to that of the Nike Swingman. The waistband on these is also really nice, with a nice stretch and a comfortable fit. I'm going to go out and buy a few more pairs to get us through!.
We order a Youth Large for my son, who is ten years old and wears a size 12 in jeans, because these are the only pants we use for baseball.
For boys who are in between sizes, the 2XL Youth size is ideal. Last year, my son wore XL Youth Nike Swingman, but he outgrew them, and this year, he's too big for Men's Adult Small. These pants are decent, but not as durable as the Nike Swingman. One season, thirty games, and two pairs of these pants, one of which already has a hole in the knee. It's also difficult to get rid of stains.
These are also very durable. It is slightly more expensive than other brands, but it is well worth it. My son is 12 years old, and this time we went with the XL, which I believe fits a 14/16. My son wears a size 14 and these are slightly large, but the larges we had last year are now too short and tight.

Rawlings Pro pants are the same excellent quality as before. I was concerned that the waistband would not be the same as the Pro pants we adore, but these are identical to previous pants in terms of waistband and softness. These pants are everything I've ever wanted in a pair of pants.

The ring of silicon inside the waist band keeps the jersey tucked in, and it's a nice thick quality. To hem up the pants for my shorter/stockier son, I use Stitch Witchery fusible bonding tape, an iron, and parchment paper to protect the pants.
