I use it only on the bottom eight inches of my boats. thick, so you should get it that way. After blending the base, I add the hardener using a drill with a mixing attachment. Across a number of shallow oyster-filled bays between Galveston and Brownsville, I fish for flounder and gig. Every time I go out on my boat, the bottom is covered with The bare aluminum hasn't been acid etched, and any saying it came off was coming from someone who didn't use conditioner on the bare metal. Depending upon how thick it is, some may say that it is difficult to apply. You can easily roll on it once you get it mixed correctly. It is not a good idea to spray it but you may be able to if you heat the can up in the sun and use an airless sprayer. What I ordered filled small pinholes left by salt water corrosion and did exactly what it was supposed to do. It's what I used for all three of my Jon boats. It's a fishing trip, a floundering trip, and duck boat time!.
Despite using this product for the first time, I wanted to wait until I saw results after using it for a few months before writing a review. A sterndrive that had been stripped of oil and acid prepped was coated with Barrier Coat according to the instructions. Zinc is eaten up by the drive every four to five hours in saltwater I will be gone for five Zincs, which have been submerged in saltwater for two months after applying three coats of Barrier Coat and antifouling paint, show little degradation after five months.
As a primer for a pontoon boat that had never been used in salt water previously, this product was applied. Aluminum etch wash was applied to the bare metal then the first coat of primer was applied further down the line. It was recommended by customer service to let the primer sit for 20 minutes after mixing the two An airbrush applied two coats. A roller was used for the third coat.
Although it sticks well, it is very difficult to measure out how much you need of it. There is a lot of thickness to the base product. Make sure you don't get this on anything else but your project so you don't have to clean up.
This primer was much too thick and the coverage was much less than what was advertised, not even 100 square feet. In fact, it's similar to the viscosity Let's just forget about this, Jamestown's products have good quality, but this is a total flop. They may have sent a can that expired. Plugging holes may be the best use of this.
It was really nice to work with epoxy primer. My hull no longer drips and the little drips that were coming out were now completely stopped by this marvelous product. I found it to be very effective. This epoxy primer did not disappoint me in any way.
I couldn't spray it because it was too thick. I tried spraying it, but it was too thick, and the ship thinner separated. The roll went well.
The copper-colored base coat was applied to our vintage 14' Lone Star runabout after two base coats The bottom of the tank is free of ablative Though I considered spraying, I decided that rolling and tipping were the most effective methods. Mixing Barrier Coat easily and applying it with a foam roller is easy. It covers extremely well and you don't have to sand between coats. We were able to put the second coat down in one day since the weather was 75 degrees and low humidity.
