That is precisely why I purchased it. I used this method to line the bottoms of three different chainsaw cases, and it worked great. A fantastic item!
Yes, diesel can be absorbed.
Because I haven't tried it, I don't know. When working on a car, it captures oil and fluids well. Other products for absorbing oils in pools are available.
That's what I believe. It's particularly good at extracting oil from water.

These sheets were purchased to help with oil leaks in the chainsaw holder, so that when I remove the saw, the bar oil does not spill all over the place. I bought an Archer chainsaw holder for my Dewalt chainsaw, but when I lifted the saw out of the tray, bar oil would pool on the bottom of the holder and spread all over. To avoid a mess, cut the oil absorbent sheet to fit the holder, making two pieces out of one sheet. I hope this helps someone who is having a similar issue, and that you enjoy the product.
These were purchased for a couple of garage maintenance tasks involving oil. They can't be folded, which is a little disappointing. They're like extremely dry paper mache that will tear or crack if you try to manipulate them. I used them and they did a decent job, but there was some oil seepage, which disappointed me. Which makes me wonder why they claim to be able to absorb oil; you'd think the rest of the material would absorb it, but it only did in that one spot. Next time, I'd go with a different company and get the more expensive ones. Oh, and their claims that "can be wrung out and re-used" are also false. I'd like to see someone give it a shot. I purchased two of these packs, and they were identical.
For certain tasks, I have an ultrasonic cleaner that necessitates the use of costly solvents. Grease and oil contaminate the solvent as it is used in the shop. By cutting a small piece of this and placing it on top of the solvent, the floating oils will be adsorb and the solvent will be left alone. That is why I decided to purchase it. br>br>I can see how it would be useful for maritime purposes, given the EPA's and Coast Guard's obsession with oil spills. This could save you from a large fine or other environmental disaster in some cases.
I'm not sure what "thickness" and "sheerness" have to do with anything, but they're incredible. My sailboat's diesel oil filter blew out, resulting in the loss of 8 quarts of 15w-90. Pour 40 gallons of oil into the bilge and let it mix with the seawater. Pumped the oil into a catch bottle for recycling, then dumped the rest of the oil and water in the bilge. They sucked up the entire amount of oil while leaving the water behind. Awesome.
This oil pad absorbs a lot of water and will last you a whole boating season. Great for cleaning up after an oil change or in the bilge of a boat. Because there are multiple compartments to fill with pads, a five-pack makes sense. After using it and filling it with oil and water, it's a pain to get it out of a bilge, so dispose of it in a large yard kitchen bag.
These were purchased to line the bottoms of three chainsaw cases that I own. They're about an eighth of an inch thick, and they didn't interfere with the chainsaws' fit in their cases. I made sure to cover the entire bottom of each case - a small amount of trimming was required - They also do an excellent job of absorbing and holding the oil that leaks from the chain oiler while it is being stored. br>I empty the oil reservoir first when storing for a long time, but there is still oil on the chain that drips off eventually. The oil doesn't get all over my tools and accessories in the cases thanks to these pads. br>These pads are of exceptional quality.
For the product that was received, there was a false advertisement. According to the advertisement, the paper is 3/8" thick and has a 25X absorbency. The actual product received is less than an eighth of an inch thick and claims to be 15 times absorbent. For around 29, you can purchase 100 units that are equivalent to the shipped product. 99 cents vs. $13 for five.
These are fantastic pads! On the boat, I soaked up the stubbiorn remaining oil in the bilge. It continued to mix with water, and this worked! floater and soaked up everything except the water! Sorcery, magic, and sorcery!.
