How many inches are gained by mounting the transom as high as possible? I purchased a long shaft motor and require an additional 6 inches to install it?

5–6 in.

Is a composite block included in this?

Yes, it does, but it's quite thick, and my motor clamps couldn't open that far, so I cut a piece of 3/4 marine plywood and painted it black to make it fit perfectly.

This is a very sturdy and heavy unit. It went on the transom with ease and security. At full throttle, it had no flex or movement after being fitted with a 10hp four stroke.
