I would never use nylon for a basketball net outside. This metal one is sturdy and long-lasting, and it makes a pleasant sound when you swish the ball around. I'm now recommending it to anyone who owns an outdoor basketball hoop.
This chain net has been in my possession for two months. During that time, it rained for about ten days, and there was no sign of rust (yet). This, like all chain nets, can be a little tricky to put together, but I had my 14-year-old son finish it in about 15 minutes and we were good to go. I'm not sure if I missed some instructions, but after hanging the net and closing all the S hooks with pliers, I thought the net looked a little long, and after sinking a few long shots, the net's lowest swags jumped up and got caught in the S hooks above. I loosened the hooks and looked for the center of each swag at the bottom. I pinched them closed after hooking them onto the S hooks above, and wow, what a difference in the net's appearance and performance. It hangs better, looks more like a regulation net, and I haven't had any problems with it since. Simply ensure that the S hooks are securely closed. Now I'm in love with the internet!.
It is a hit with the children. This is an outstanding product. So far, there hasn't been any evidence of rust. It was good, but I wish it had been a little longer. When making baskets, the child is enthralled by the sound.
