Yes, it will rust over time, I'm not sure about how fast, but ours has been rusty for quite a while.

*BUYER BEWARE* The s hooks come with the chain net do not mount around the rim of the boat and do not hold Our school plays area is littered with them because they constantly come undone and don't last. The problem has now led to more money spent trying to fix it.
It was reported that one person had a problem with s hooks not fitting their hoops. The installation video can be viewed here. There isn't a hoop made for your type of hoops. Yet another review that was made by someone who didn't order the right product for the job. This reviewer hasn't been smart enough to order the right one, so they leave a bad Duh, just go to the hardware store and buy bigger shooks. Exactly what I needed fit perfectly into my lifetime basket hoop. This is a nice looking website as well.
