Questions & Answers

Would you mind letting me know... Can I make a clinometer 5/360 PC with percent and degree ?

In both cases, the degrees scale is on the left and the percent scale is on the right. A maximum percentage of 150% (* 56 °) is allowed.

Would this be viewed as a height meter or ?

A Clinometer is a device that measures blood pressure. You need two things to calculate Heights first the Inclination, to be determined by using this clinometer, and second the distance to the target, which can also be determined by this instrument.

Does this method allow one to measure the height of buildings as well?

You can certainly do that, as long as you know how far you are It might be necessary to do a little math when the distance is greater than 66' or 100'.

As for me, no delivery date has been set. Perhaps this is due to the fact that I marked four Are these available for prime shipping? When do you plan on ?

It does not seem that an order has been placed for suunto, Edgar. Currently, I am in the northern part of Whatcom County near Canada. As soon as Monday, I am able to ship. When I return to the United States on Sunday, I will be able to In what time frame did you order it? What is the order number for this order? In order to find out whether I just missed something, I'm going to check again.

Selected User Reviews For Suunto PM-5 Clinometer

There are a number of points that need clarification There are different ways to measure the same thing with different models
3/5

It is a very high quality product- This watch has nice workmanship, a nice feel, and appears to be very precise. The case it comes with is also very nice. Amazon has not provided sufficient information about this product so that it can be purchased from Suunto. Following is an excerpt from the Amazon product page for It is possible to select from a variety of scales. In addition to these, linear angle scales are available. As well as degrees, gons and mils, they have percent scales and topographic scales, metric or American scales as well as special secants. This description, however, does not mention that different models offer different capabilities and different units of measurement. It is impossible to tell from the product description how much your model will measure or how many units it will have. They are spelled out in the user guide you receive with the product.

These are the things you will find in the user guide - - - If a model has a 15, 20, or 66 in the name, it measures height with a fixed distance scale (15m, 20m, or 66ft). - - - Those models that feature PC in their name measure height as a percentage in relation to a variable distance. - - - A model with "S" in its name measures horizontal distance using a This PM was sent to me - This is the 5/360 PC Clinometer, which measures on a percent The percent angle is easily converted from feet into percent angles, so it works out well if you use a measurement of 100 feet. For the purposes of my research, my only other clinometer provided measurements at both 66 feet and 100 feet, so I thought it would be a little more versatile. Unless they are selling one model and describing what that model measures, Amazon and Suunto should make clear what the different models measure, or clearly state that they will only be selling one model,.

This is an excellent A misleading description of this product has been provided

Introducing the Suunto PM-100 There is actually a clinometer in number 5. It would be difficult for me to criticize anything except I took a little while to understand how to use this instrument, but that is possible just for me. The first time I used it, I was amazed at the ease of use, the construction, and the card that you could view. It is again highly recommended that you take advantage of.

The best way to determine accuracy is to test
5/5

My goal was to buy an optical device that I could fit in a tool pouch in order to measure heights in refineries. When equipment is used in an intrinsically safe environment, it must be rugged In other words, it is safe. Consequently, GPS, etc. are not likely to cause a fire, as it cannot provide enough current to cause one. Moreover, as I explained to a friend once, GPS tells you where you are and not how high something is next to During my field tests with the instrument, I found that it was accurate to within +/- 1 degree A theodolite (transit) involves a tripod, so this is not as good as it would be with a transit. If this measurement were performed this way, it would be highly accurate, maybe to a half-inch or so, but it would take a while If you knew what you were doing, it would take you about one hour to set up the system. Even if the PM is inaccurate, you can still have peace of mind This is a great way to measure quickly. The Clinometer works best when there is partial cloud cover. It may cause modest headache and tired eyes after frequent usage in bright sunshine, such as for more than an hour at a time. As a reminder, here is how it works *Brief description here First, you need to measure the horizontal distance Keeping the tape straight is important. 1. *br. In order to obtain the height of the instrument, hold it up to the eye 1. 2. 3. The black eyepiece can be found by holding the brass handle and finding the brass handle. The fourth point. The eye with the best ability to see close-up should be chosen. Note *br. Lie on your back and close one I. 6. You can find it by looking at the horizontal hairline. On the right is % slope (or height in feet at 100 feet A foot) The degrees column is on the left. This is 8. There is no horizon with zero. Item 9. Aim for the desired elevation with the instrument. Item 10. By using the second eye, you can see the object for which you want to know 11 *br You will see the hairline in focus in front of the second eye because of an optical illusion. -11. Note -12. Make sure that the instrument is elevated and that the measurement is correct. The 13th rule. With degrees, you will have the best accuracy. 14
. The math is simple In other words, Ho + DTan(angle) equals H. I asked you to add your vote if you thought this review was helpful.

As expected, it works
5/5

This product was purchased to try to determine drainage slope during rough design of a drainfield Earlier this year, I used it on a large commercial project before I had the topo survey done. order to compare the ground slopes in the survey with the actual slopes. Despite a minor miscalculation on the clinometer, the survey was within a degree of the clinometer. It is accurate enough to use in preliminary design, and in some cases, it might even be.

A flawless performance has been achieved by this clinometer
5/5

A second one has just arrived (the first one grew legs and I haven't seen it for a while). In the past, I used it in every kind of weather and in some pretty obnoxious environments when I was scouting for hiking trails without any problems. Despite its lengthy length, I could easily read it. For most of my work, I use the low end of the % scale and the resolution I selected When I am not using it, I keep it in its pouch and usually in my pack. Whether or not it would hold up well to rough handling is a mystery to me.

Product of high quality and ease of use
5/5

This clinometer is a very good product. When you get the hang of it, it's fairly easy to use it for measuring the heights of cell phone towers. The device, if you've never used it before, measures the angle at which your gaze is directed. you can get the height of something if you know how far you are from something, and the angle at which you look to see the top of it. To calibrate it, I have compared it to known heights of structures, and I usually get within a few millimeters It is 5 feet tall. When doing this, a lot of factors come into play Position of sun, distance from target (affected by terrain ie. If it is hilly, the distance you would measure walking is different than for a straight line distance), skill of use (it takes some practice before your eyes adjust to seeing through it).

In addition to being high-quality and readable, Suunto compasses and clinometers also have a great deal of accuracy. There is a high degree of consistency and accuracy in the measurements.
